i have a 1500 watt led light for a 49 sq ft room. is this enough?

I'm guessing your 1500 watt light is a 200 watt light. So it'll light like 5 of those sqft.

You need like 30 watts / sqft for flower, and one light isn't going to cover that kind of area.
 
It's a 260 watt light and it's not going to be very efficient so 40watts/sqft would be a good number. So that light is good for around 6sqft and you'll need 6 more to light 50sqft.

damn!!! well i have a tier seed starter system. each tier has two florescent tubes. if i hung that would it help? im a little tight on cash right now
 
It's likely your a victim of misleading naming/branding.

You need at least 30w per sq ft. That's ACTUAL watts from the wall.. just because it says "1500w" somewhere on the packaging, doesnt mean the actual draw is 1500 watts. These knock off brands do that to mislead people into buying a cheaper product. They'll sell a 200w light, and label it "1500w equivalent". Shady stuff

A single 600w HLG has a 5x5 flower footprint.. so even with a product from a well known and trusted source of quality LEDs, your not getting enough power to cover a 7x7 (49sq ft) area. You'll either need 3+ more of those lights you bought, to properly light your grow space.

You can use what you got. Throw all it at them in flower. But you'll have to limit it to one or a couple plants that actually fit under the area you can get bright enough with that thing. Can expand out into the rest of your space as you can pick up more lights.

damn. im gonna order a second one, but if thst doesnt work i guess im just fucked. i have about ten seedlings under it right now. was waiting to throw my hydro under it

Or... You could not give your money to the same people who ripped you off with their deceptive advertising.

Check out migro on YouTube, he just reviewed a super cheap Amazon light that actually doesn't suck. Buy that one if you want a cheapo light, at least it's tested and is efficient and has a good spectrum.
 
If you can control the heat the best bang for the buck is an HID. You can get a 1000 watt MH/HPS with a sealed hood for under $200 that would cover a good chunk of that space. Or a 600 watt dimmable HID that would easily grow 4 good size plants. You aren't going to pull over a pound with $150's of LED's but you can with an HID.
