Trich Colors, what type of Stone/High..best time to Harvest for your chosen effect !?....

As the long aas'd title suggest I want to put together info on CLEAR,CLEAR/CLOUDY, CLOUDY, CLOUDY/AMBER, AMBER\DARK AMBER,and DARK AMBER..

..I want (with the help of you guys and Girls) t label each of thes Trich colors, to help us all (that are unsure) when is the best time to harvest both Indica, Sativa, Dwarf and Auto...for the Head High, Stone or Narcotic Comatosis effect etc... That we like individually.. Ie what color ratios of etc.. cause which kind of effects..and the best time to Harvest in order to obtain those High/Stone effects....

Please explain further why some people harvest when mainly all trichs are cloudy and others wait until the trichs 70% Amber etc.. What difference does this make to the final product/smoke..?.. - STELTHY

I thought Amber was more narcotic effect then when they darken off thats the trichs degrading...?... When would you pin point the pefect time to harvest going by trich color..? - STELTHY

Personally I think there is waaaay to much emphasis put on the whole “harvest early for a sativa effect or up high” and “harvest later for more indica couchlock high”. I’ve found that the type of high is related more to the strain, and what makes that unique is the terpenes like Budz said.

From my experiences growing a decent variety of strains over the last 15 years, from indicas to sativas and many hybrids between, if you harvest plants early you get less high and it doesn’t last as long. If you harvest them when they are ripe you get more high and it lasts longer. If you wait and wait extra time ignoring the plant and let it overripen you definitely can get a more sleepy high and sometimes just less high.

Its also important to read all the signs a plant is giving you about maturity and not just trichomes. Checking trichomes should be the LAST step in determining if your plant is ready.

I do notice that with some strains the high is a little clearer if you chop when the trichomes are a cloudy and stonier when milky. Amber is degradation due to oxidation so I don't want much amber, just enough to know that I have peaked out the THC production. My ideal chop would be 90% milky, 5% cloudy and 5% amber.

This graphic is pretty informative. Linalool and Myrcene are big factors in your buzz, contributing to the sedative or couch lock buzz.

100% cloudy is really the goal, but it’s basically impossible to get the whole plant to all mature at exactly the same rate or even trichomes on the same bud since some form sooner then others. Like Renfro said 90 cloudy, and 5 clear and amber is about the best you can hope for.

my thought was grow different strains for the desired effect and then harvest when the most trichs are milky/ripe?

Takes atleast 3 weeks for trics to begin degrading, much easier to harvest early than late. Someone show me a over ripe bud.

Am still on the fence about flushing too... I mean in the past I have stopped feeding 7 to 10 days prior to harvest to flush... People saying on one hand it deprives them of food and that doesnt happen in nature...

And on the other hand its an essential especially in DWC to flush prior to harvest for a cleaner better smoke quality and flavor etc.....but loads of people now say feed till the end with no flush.... ??? - STELTHY

So are you saying, when selecting seeds to do a background check on the terp build? This is on place where I may have been depriving myself of the type of hype in relation to terp build..I see now according to this chart limonene and linalool are my type.. maybe this explains some of the highs I’m getting..
