How much light is to much in a grow tent

Interesting...I was just watching a video the other day where a guy put this debate to rest by showing the specification sheets for both the LM301B and LM301H. I'm wondering where he got those spec sheets, though, if Samsung and HLG are saying something different.
Who's he selling for or what is he selling?

I've been on the side of HID for quite some time.
Have not bothered to do more then follow what LED's are doing. Watched the COB thing and skipped it due to shallow penetration vs 1K HID

Now the New 301 units are making waves in the area of just how tall I'm running (5 - 6.5 ft)
I got an HLG 3012B unit from a friend for Christmas ( The one who leads the charge for me to go LED )
I see what he's doing and found these newer 301H unit putting out nicely higher lumans by meter then the 301B's

I sprang for 3 units to run on one side of that bloom room. With the HLG in the line vs the Jupiter 6 hooded 1K's on the other side.

The HLG was enough on my first 2 test runs vs the 1K's to invest in the newer units (at less price) to really do some yield and structure testing.

I mean, I can actually reduce my electrical cost for the lights alone by 52%..... Not to mention heat reduction/more efficient heat control...
Yup, I'm in it to see for sure.

There will be postings on how it's doing soon.

Thanks for the link! I swore I remembered Stephen from HLG saying they were the same diodes, too, but didn’t mention it because I couldn’t find his post to back my claim up.

I gotchu if u look at both spec sheets of 301b and 301h at 80cri see any differences at all? go over it took me a min.

I wouldn’t even know where to look in the spec sheets. I just remember seeing the graphs he showed for both LEDs and they were identical.

I would put 4-5 lights in there but how do you keep the temps down in the tent?
Air Conditioner. Welcome to pulling your hair out with a/c fighting in indoor.

PRO TIP: Get a window ac (that hangs outside a window) AND DO NOT BUY ANYTHING ELSE. Listen to me. Im saving you valuable time and money

I don’t think he was selling anything. I believe he was a guy who builds and tests DIY setups and was trying to clear the air.
Ok, thanks for the answer.

I did make a mistake in the umal output of the 301H chips - I said 3.03. Samsung clearly lists 3.1 on their site - Even better for me....

At any rate I find this as basically a useless discussion.
Being no difference in pricing by any board builder......Why not follow the claims by the maker - and screw the constant bickering between business rivals in the market.
Everyone wants market share - I want something that works, reduces my operating costs and gives me the same return as a 1K electric eating, heat factory.

Let someone else partake in the pissing match. I get the feeling that a lot is being said by builders in opposition, to simply retain their customer base.
All that hot air tends to make the wind blow in the direction of those speaking...

Peace out

I'm not bickering, I'm honestly curious about whether there is an actual difference or not. The link you provide just verifies the μmol/J rating for the LM301H. If you look at the same page for the LM301B it doesn't even list the μmol/J rating. From what I understand, the LM301H is the same exact thing, they just added the LM301B to their horticulture line with the "B" replaced with an "H" so the product sheet would show data more focused on horticultural applications. I don't consider any of this discussion to be a pissing match...people are just trying to know the facts, and especially those who build their own lights, because it would be nice to know if they are the same for when stock of one model is low.

Edited to add: I just sent Samsung an email asking if there is any difference between the two LEDs, other than the model number, and will let you know if/when I hear back from them.

Gottcha - I think the pissing match is between makers of the products and the component makers anyway.

I've seen meter charts where the H was beating the B's in total photon output. Thing is they are spread around and I didn't keep them or links.
Gotta run...bbl
