Aussie High Lights – we're official

Hey guys,

wanted to share my little build that I completed a little while back.

I snagged a few boards and wanted to put up a test run until we can settle into a new home.

Running 2 high light UV boards with a HLG -240H-48B, and there is a HLG 100 4000K nestled in the middle. Sourced dimmers from RapidLED
Nice neat set-up there. I love what you've done with the frame. It's always good to see what you guys have been up to – keep the photos coming!

I was just browsing Grow Lights Australia and I noticed their High Light “UV” boards are back in stock!

@Grow Lights Australia did you just make a partial batch of boards, or did you receive more PCBs and do a full run?
YES! We are back in stock! :P

We picked up the new (full) run today and they are ready to go out. Everything is in stock now, including single heat sinks.

Hello @Grow Lights Australia , I hope you are doing as well as possible during this tough time.

I just have a question or two if you don't mind.

I am preparing to buy your double High Light UV board and heatsink combination (2x single heatsinks) to add some light to a 5x5 tent.
I have two boards of another make each on their own HLG-240H-54AB. I would like to(for the time being anyway) put those two boards on one driver and use the other driver for the two High Light boards.

I see on your website that the HLG-240H-54B is on your recommended driver list, but there is no mention of the HLG-240H-54AB on that list.

HLG-240H-54AB: From Datasheet- voltage adjustment: 50-57 volts (test report actual: 48.15-60.16 volts). Current adjustment: 2.23-4.45 amps (actual:1.66-4.86 amps). Constant current region: 27-54 volts (actual: 27-53 volts).

I believe that I should be able to power one (provided I dim to 225 watts or less) or two High Light boards with this driver. Do you think that will work?

Thank you for your time,
Stan

That driver will be fine. You won't get as much juice out of it with two boards as you would with a HLG-240H-48A or AB driver, but you should still get around 220-230W out of it, driving each board at around 110W each. At those wattages, the boards will be very efficient. We've got quite a few growers running two boards with a 240 driver or four boards with a 480 driver because they prefer to run more boards with higher efficiency. The only reason the 54AB isn't listed is because the 48AB is preferred, as it is in the perfect voltage range and puts out more current, up to 5.5A.

If you only wanted to run one board, then that driver would be almost perfect, as it is slightly more efficient than the 48V version (93% vs 93.5%) and the rated output is very close to the maximum current rating of one High Light board (4.5A). So whichever way you go, you'll be golden.

Thank you for the reassurance.

Congrats @Grow Lights Australia, I remember when you had to know a certain crustacean and talk kelp to get these lights @Prawn Connery ;)

Been running these boards a while now

4 Highlights on XL slates inbetween 8 Quantum Boards in a 4x8.

Since the addition of the HighLights plants underneath have shown an increase in resin, terps and flavour are better and buds that make my grinder work hard. I do think the HL and QB compliment each other well though.

Some buds currently flowering under the High Lights

What can I say? You're a member of a very exclusive club! One that never runs out of weed!

Those plants look the bomb. I'm glad they are working as advertised for you. I must admit, even I'm surprised at how well they work. Thanks for the bud porn mate :weed:

So glad I caught this before you sold out again. I ordered 2 more boards for my second tent. I changed out some no-name alibaba "QB's" for UV highlights in one tent a few months ago and I'm super happy. Plants look healthier and definitely a lot more frost, even on my auto CBD plants. Cheers from Canada!

Harvested my plants about a month ago. Minus some stupid mistakes on my part, things went great under these lights. Sorry for the shitty quality pics but I'm no photographer. Smoke is great and covered in trichs making me a happy consumer.

Just planted three more of the more cowbell seeds under the boards since it finished head and shoulders above my other two plants. I am going to run these boards full cycle this time and be a little more diligent on my environment and waterings this go round. Hope everyone is staying well.
