Its the heaviness thats my concern coming back into it until its all muscle and learnt memory again.
Saw so many people like me in the shop crashing a couple weeks later. Thats why im also thinking something more nimble for awhile. Little skirtster or something or a XS650 would be ideal. Not much choice on the second hand market here.

She has some say. She is an awesome pillion and can handle big ks at speed. Well, like me she used to..haha
She sat on the back of an Aprilia rsv1000r with a backpack on with our clothes in it from sydney to the turn of to Uluru. Did it in 2 and 1/2 days.
She thought the trip back the next day would be more comfortable..Nope was a pussy pad on top of a Night Train. haha. Took us an extra day- it was horrible.

Have you looked at adventure bikes like the KTM or Ducati Multistrada? I recon they’d be ideal for down there, comfy riding position, go anywhere (sealed / unsealed) lighter and nimble than a big heavy cruiser etc..
get yourself a refresher course, or a defensive riding course where they supply the bike before you get your own again if your hesitant that you’ve lost some skills. Worth every cent!

Ive never been a fan of them but yes thay are comfortable, just a bit vanilla for me.
Thats a good idea about a course. Im sure ive lost allot of skill after 12 years lol. Road every day for like forever and then just stopped.

step dad has one of the Ktm adventure bikes. He loves it on the road but he’s more into trail stuff now and plans to sell it as it’s too big and heavy for that shit, hasn’t been a nice bike to him though and has broken down on him a few times on trips but that was probably his fuckup when he shorted the battery accidentally as it’s all been electrical

KTMs were never the most reliable bikes. Not much margin in them either.

Agree, they’re more for sealed and unsealed roads than trail riding. Great for a weekend away or a trip. I mentioned it to Luke as an option cuz there’s a heap of great rides down his way on unsealed roads or a mix of.

I’ve got the 2015 899 Panigale with the termi exhaust. It’s a great bike, heaps of fun. Definitely not for a pillion passenger though. Before I picked it up I got the rear pegs taken off and a rear cowl on, just registered it as a single seater. Mrs Ozy has got a Triumph Daytona 675.

edit: we took them down to Tassie last year for three weeks of riding. Had a blast. I think the roads down there were designed by a rider:) how good is Hellyer Gorge!

It is, so many eh, the Ouse to Queenstown route is awesome. Queenstown to Strahan. Frankford Hway. The back rd from Deloraine to Kimberly to Sheffield . Elephents pass. there are so many, we did the rides you mentioned. Luckily we know a couple that have written some great books, it made it so easy for us. If you get a chance to pick this book up I’d highly recommend it. They’ve also done one for SE QLD which is excellent too.
