Distance between Ortoled lights and plants in a 1m. square grow room

Hello everyone,

I am a bit confused about distance between LED lights and plants in a 1 metre square tent ... I bought a LED light (Ortoled Basestar) that has the following specifications:
1) Voltage: 85-265V AC
2)
Power consumption: 240W real consumption
3)
PPFD at 30 cm: 2000 umol/s/m2
4)
Number of LEDs: 4 COB + 24 * 3 Watt
5)
Spectrum: 380-780 nm

Ortoled claim is an equivalent wattage to a conventional lamp of 400W HPS-MH lamp and it should cover a 0.9x0.9 area.

In my grow room, I have 7 plants at present and they are just starting to get into vegetative state but I am unsure how far they should be from this light. Right now they are 25 inches away but unsure if too far or too close for veg state. Basically, I would like to find out what would be a reasonable distance from this light at this stage and later during flowering. Thanks

Start lowering it a bit everyday until the plants react. If the leaves curl up you are too close. Does it have a dimmer? Dimming is easier than moving the light. A ppfd of 2000 is pretty strong but it’s likely focused right in the middle. I runs strips instead of COBs but I’m pretty sure that light is designed to hang high like an HPS.

That’s useful! Unfortunately my light doesn’t dimmer but I also have 2 Niello led lights 300w that I can add. In full mode they have similar spectrum though they actually also have veg and agro switches and I can just reinforce the blue spectrum and and see what comes up. Will modulate the principal light to be 20-25 inches from the plants entering second week veg state. Since as you said it’s rather focused in the middle I could strengthen the outer coroners with additional lights. My lux meter doesn’t give me more than 20k in the current position and to get to 40-45k its area of max light would be limited to a couple of plants. I think having multiple single cob led modules would have helped a better distribution of light...
