i am looking for a veg grow light thats uses 100watts or less for veg in a 1x1x3ft grow box
i seen this but i think its expensive $230 Australian delivered and possible junk but it uses meanwell driver and Samsung diodes https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PPAP-1000W-LED-Grow-Light-Sunlike-Full-Spectrum-Veg-Flower-Indoor-Plant-OZ/164220865848?hash=item263c538d38:g:vKAAAOSwAhxeziVm

it has a dimmer so im considering it as 100watts all the time is too much for my needs right now

could i build something similar for less money. maybe 3 20watt strips and a driver plus heat sink. if so any suggestions but cant have high shipping costs to Australia

It's a 100w LED (says so on the meanwell driver).

The HLG 240w version with Quantum Boards is twice the power for the same (or half) the price.
And you can dim it down to about 50w.

yet shipping will be half the cost of the light $80 plus aus . i was looking for the hlg 65 but i cant get one cheaply

Just order 10x 1' eb gen2/3 strips and use a meanwell LRS-75-24 wiring then in parallel and use a baking sheet as your heatsink/fixture.

$45-strips.
$20-driver)

could i get a single cob or bored and attach it to a heatsink instead of having several strips

Surely. That driver has an internal potentiometer to adjust current output though, so to really know where it's at, you would need to use a multimeter to determine milliamperage. There's an L M and and H version, H ranging I think somewhere between 875-2700mA.

I'd assume you could just turn the potentiometer all the way clockwise to its highest setting of 2700"ish" milliamps, turn it just a bit back, and connect one standard 54V board to it for around 130"ish" watts. this would of course require an adequate heatsink at that much power. But not at its lowest setting of 875. You'd be less than 45watts there.

Does anyone read the OP?
100 watts is way too much for a 1x1!
You need around 15-25 watts to veg a 1x1 depending on the quality and efficiency of the light
what do you mean OP and what 25wat light can i get that isnt a t5 or cfl that will fit in a 1x1
the driver i was looking at can be dimmed so it go down to 50watts idk maybe thats still too much

I would say if you want to go cheap Chinese LEDS get a mars, hlg, or Spiderfarmer. Those ones are tried. You can get a better product. Ive gone the route of meizhi in the past and that shit is garbage. This is mars TSW 2000, 40 days on a 63 day flower. Not here to debate better, but there is way better, out there, but there is tons of proof that these are good value lights. Don't buy garbage rip-offs that burn out half way through flower. Might work...roll the dice.

Your looking for help, I get it. Look up the lights I mentioned...recent videos on YouTube. Good luck growmie.

WTF? HLG is not Chinese! At least not the REAL HLG stuff.

sorry bro, that might be my ignorance, but I thought all the parts are Chinese and built there. I have nothing against them at all, they are great value. Do you have backup for that? I'm very intreagued now.

You could get a sf1000 for 100 less than that light. Looking at the driver its basically the same one on my sf too. Same light 100 dollars cheaper

OP is Original Post. I'm thinking 8 of the strips Airwalker posted, but not sure what driver. I haven't given such small lights much thought.
