2020 MASSACHUSETTS outdoor grow Thread!

I've heard they don't like strong smells. You could throw some moth balls around the plant or soak a rag in peppermint oil and see if that works.

I’ll have to try that, thanks. I do live set back in the woods so hard to avoid them

i have a ton of grey squirrels and chipmunks this year but I’ve never seen a red one here. I don’t think there touching the plants but I’m worried about them digging holes
Not sure how deep they dig but you could try putting some hardware cloth in a perimeter about a foot down.

my raised bed is lined with old railroad ties and has cloth buried and is about 2ft deep. They have been hiding under my walkway in the center. It’s probably nice and cool under there

5 gallon bucket filled halfway with water, sprinkle a handful of sunflower seeds on the top, then place a board as a ramp up to the top, sprinkle a few sunflower seeds on that ... next morning there will be half a dozen floating

actually I do something similar with mice in my garage lol the chipmunks are just so darn cute though I’d rather just deter them if I can

if you find a better way let me know, I’ve buried no less than 100 sunflower seeds this year ... I don’t think I’ve seen one come out of the ground, all I find is little holes where I buried them... I love animals, I really do.. but this is war

Here is a thread I started for coastal NE seed selection for the outdoor season. What strains have you been growing?

I am hopefully going to be receiving some clones from a grower in Maine that might be a legit cut of MOB !!
Its not a big thread.

Curious to see how yours turn out as well. Good luck on them. I couldn't get seedsman to be able to charge my card for some reason.. Idk why but I'd like to try theirs I'll keep an eye on yours and make a note for the future. Thanks. :bigjoint: :peace:

I had to use a Mastercard , my card through Citizens kept flagging fraud and they could'nt fix it.
BUT just an FYI moving forward on Seedsman: you can do bank transfer with them, which I may do if I don't use bitcoin next order (25%discount + 8 free seeds)

I’ve had no problem ordering from seedsman past couple times and I use card. My last order took 6 weeks to arrive though but they did say it may take that long due to covid and whatnot.

To add onto the dsmer’s Seedsman bitcoin deal, I highly recommend you order from seedsman during their Black Friday deal. You get a shit ton of free seeds. I ordered 5 auto sweet seeds, 1 fast buds auto, & 10 regular Serious Seeds from them and got 10 free from Black Friday and 6 from bitcoin ordering for a total $80 bucks. Even if the ordering is delayed (which mine was) yourll get them before New Years, plenty of time to pheno before the outdoor grow. Been ordering my seeds on BF for the past 3 years and now have way too much seeds and not enough time/space to grow em.

What a difference in just 2 weeks! Faster than my tomatoes even.

Hey guys, these pics were all taken a week apart from each other. This week was super hot and my plants seemed to hit their growth spurt compared to the difference between the first two weeks of June. Do you think the green house is making them stretch towards the light or is this kind of growth normal during hot weeks?

outstanding growth! No I think that your plants have just kick it into high gear with the warmer weather.

My two cats are great black hunters. I haven't seen a squirrel since the winter and the chipmunks I've seen have been in my cats company. ;)

And I live in the woods......

Actually, it's kind of creepy I haven't even seen one. The cats are good, but squirrels are like honey badgers when they want something. Maybe owl's?

So it appears that 1 of my 4 regulars is male. I would like to save him for pollen; is it feasible to replant him on the other side of my property a few hundred feet away behind a DENSE wall of brush and trees, or is this just asking for trouble?

i would bring it inside if you can. Even a few hundred feet away I can almost guarantee you’ll get pollination. pollen travels far and could “potentially” ruin your harvest
