Which HLG light for 32”wide x 32”tall, 21”depth box?

The 65W is not dimmable and will cook your plants at that height. They do sell a dimmer switch tho on the Amazon page look for HLG 65 accessories. I need to grab one of those.

But if you are flowering in that space you want at least 120W. the problem is height will be an issue to get good coverage u need to be 18-24" off the top of canopy.

I personally would just get the 4pack of QB132 v2 for $132. Would be awesome coverage in your space and you would be running them softer, making them more efficient and also letting you keep them only a few inches off your tops.

You wont need heatsinks with those so u can mount them pretty close to top of your space. Then get the recommended driver on that page the HLG-185H-C1400. I would get the B version so u can dim a little as needed. That way you have what you need now but you can upgrade the driver later if you get a bigger space. You can run up to 300ish watts total through those boards.

He doesn't want to build a kit though is the deal. I was talking to him earlier. If I was in his position and didn't want to build shit, I'd get 2 65's and 2 dimmers and call it a day. I just found out about the ability to dim the 65 earlier today. Personally I love the idea of the 132's though. I've almost gotten weak and bought them a few times already. I have an HLG addiction, lol.

That's a really great suggestion! As plug and play as possible. We can wait til he's hooked on QBs to get him into DIY mode ;)

Ya, for my next light build, I'd like to fully do it myself using the 132's. But I'm not really ready for that yet, lol. I need to do more homework.

But it's not like I need more lights now. I still have one of my 260 V1 kits that I haven't built. The other is built, but never used. I went nuts with the V1 sale. Shhh, don't tell the wife.

I say just go for it. I didn't know shiiit about electric besides AC/DC before I started. My first light was DIY HLG135 kit and then the HLG65. Now I have custom built more lights than I would like to admit. (I swear my new veg strip light will be it for a while lol.) I just ask lots of questions about what driver to get, and then video call my electrician buddies if I get confused while building my fixtures. Learned a ton of cool stuff, and the best part, I haven't electrocuted myself yet!

Bro, there ain't no homework to be done. You literally mou t them to a frame of aluminum um angle you build to your specs and plug wires into the connectors. It's dumb simple.

so im stuck on 2 things at the moment ..I’d go with the hlg 65 and dim it down but they only have it available in 4000k, would that still work for flower? I’ll also be vegging with it

the other is this viparspectra thats dimmable, what do you guys think? It goes from 100%-25%, the 25% has to be low enough power for what I’m looking for

cause I’m bored and preparing myself for a much larger grow when my living situation allows. gotta learn sometime right? Why not start small so when I spend the money on a nice big quality setup, I’m doing it right
and with that said the CFLs I’m using will work for now but I’m trying to get a grasp on LEDs so I’m prepared cause CFLs ain’t gonna cut it with what I plan on doing down the road

Now that I think about it doing the 2 HLG65 w dimmer would still be too intense. The benefit of doing 4 qb132 panels is you would be powering them at @30w each which is going to keep them cooler.

Setting up the driver is the hardest part and you can do that w Wagos.

I sticking w my originaal suggestion,, get the qb132 v2 4pack and a driver.

So I have a v65 in my 2x4x5 tent as supplemental lighting and I just don't think you have the height in that little tent ... that little light is intense. If I get too close to my plants its starts bleaching the tops.

Probably not a super popular opinion, but I'd just rock a 4 tube t5 in that space. I run one in my clone tent thats a similar size, I could see flowering a couple small plants in there. Thats the only way to maximize your height because the plants can almost touch the bulbs. Anything else and once you factor in hanging space and pot height ... you just won't have any room for the plants.

That's what dimming is for. Nothing beats the height of a QB. Don't get much thinner than 2-4mm's. That's maximum height advantage right there. Dim down if they're having any issues with being too close. It'd take 3-4x the wattage in 4' fluoros to match newer QBs.

I've never tried it. How much would you need to dim a v65 to get that close though? My HO T5 is 96 watts I believe so thats already more than the v65 to begin with. Maybe I'm missing something.

based on all the reading I’ve done on PPFD/par and all that stuff the hlg65 should be fine between 12-18 inches, little higher during veg little lower during flower ...this is with a dimmer
