Removed a lot of "leafage"

Live and learn. I'd be really interested in what grows back. Will it come back with a vengeance, and be thicker and bushier? There have been several posts about doing the same thing here lately. I guess the abuse was more than they could bear, and they went away. Nobody (to my knowledge) has posted what happened post dismemberment.

well here we are, 24 hours after my rampage with the scissors.

here was my plant (hindu kush) just a few days ago, thriving and enjoying life.


It's the plant on the left.

And here is what was left over from my temporary insanity.

i left quite a few on but there were so many small bud sites covered by lefs i thought it was a good idea.....

i think it's sexy. Do you have a plant about the same height and age? I'd be curoius to see how they compare in yield. I really don't think it's as bad as you think. The worse part is is that it's during flwoering, and right in the middle. But seriously, that might grow a little interesting.

different strains, but one's taller and the other is shorter.

just pretend you are farther along in flowering and that bare area is the first of the fan leaves to start yellowing and falling off.....

whenever i grew outside the last couple days before I'd harvest id trim the fan leaves away. Buds always seemed to plump a little after.

the hate for triming fan leaves is so fucking broard on these forums. man my bagseed sativas lower fan leaves were looking unhealthy yet their was new healthy growth at the nodes, i trimmed the fan leaves off allowing the new growth to get more light and now its fucking powering sann. So any one who says never trim is fuckin trippin brah.

you don't want to trim during flowering. Thats all. The plant has to recover after you clip shit. Which means while it's not recovering, it's not growing buds. Thats the big deal: not growing buds. You veg, shape your plant, then put full forces into buds. I trimed the shit dick out of my current clone. Of course, my build for this is a lollipop, so i'm supposed to trim the bottom leaves anyways and encourage massive undergrowth, which, so far, i love what it is doing. I just hope it still yields...

But still. You just don't want to trim off things the plant is actively using. Dead leaves, trim those suckers. It's recommended. The plant knows how to grow. When leaves stop being used, it kills them. When it send toxins to leaves, those areas of the leaf arn't being used anymore, and if enough damamge is there, might as well clip the whole leaf. It wastes energy into something that's not producing it's fair share.

Don't trim during flowering is the biggest thing to not do...and don't be freakin stupid. Always avoid being stupid.

when in flowering..... if it doesnt fall off with the slightest touch; probably safer to leave it where it is... and if its not yellow, its not comin off..

so far so good.

another question. at the bottom of one of my plants i had very yellow, dry, brittle leaves. i gave the ma slight tug, if they didn't come off with ease i left them.

is that ok to do?

that is the only way i take off leaves... in nature, the wind will take those off.....

is it common for some plants, even the same strain, to grow quicker than others of the same strain under same conditions?

Yeah I did the same thing with one of my plants. My "friend" told me that if I remove the fan leaves the buds would get more nutrients. It sounded good in my head, and when I was done it looked like Charlie Browns Christmas tree. I then checked this site and saw that I fecked up. Do not listen to friends, listen to people who know what the feck they are talking about. I still haven't harvested her yet, BUT A BIG LESSON WAS LEARNED>
