Which orientation of CFLs is the most effective?

I'm building a cardboard CFL veg box with 10 42 watt CFLs. I'm plugging them into power strips and taping them to the top of the box with a lot of electrical tape. What direction should they be facing in relation to the plants? Should the side be facing down, or should the end?

From everything I have read says that the most and best light comes from the side of the CFL. So as long as you keep the top horzintal to the plant you should be fine!

Either one will work just don't point the top circle at the plant as very lil light comes off of this point

Also keep them within 4" of the plant (with 23w bulbs which I use 28 of for 6 plants)

They're not going to be within 6 inches of the plant for some time, but I'm using enough of them that it won't matter, and I'm painting the inside of the box white.

even if you use a bunch its still going to be a problem unless theyre close. I have 8 and i take a light meter 6 inches from my assembly and i barely pull 800 lumens

Yea i think with the right enclosure you get more light density, dr. bud proved that

Dr. bud seems to think that they work better mounted and facing straight out, im thinking about trying this because im getting tired of moving my plants around the light when i want to water, his buds are nice and they are like 5 inches away
