Do I need to defoliate more?

I love how people show defoliation pics and are shocked when the plant grows more vegetation afterwords. Cutting leafs off of plants slows down growth and bud development period. Removing lower branches is not the same as defoliation mind you.

And can we please stop saying there are 100 ways to grow a plant, that is 100% bullshit. There are a few styles not 100s. And as far as the plant being happy even less.
Just your way lol

I love how you shape the word to fit your style.

why wouldn’t removing lower branches slow down the growth? The plant just knows bro?
Use you brain, often even in smaller plants this growth gets left behind and is cut off not defoliated, you must see the clear difference in the use of the word.

I just got 100 positive reaction points, are these exchangeable for seeds and grow gear? I need another set of fluorescents, how many points for that and where do I exchange?

The comment ("100 ways to grow a plant, that is 100% bullshit") is an argument aimed at me for no reason

ways to grow a plant includes diffent light and if you growing in water, soil or coco
and there loads of diffent ways to train the plants

So what I was saying is there 100 diffents to grow a plant, what's wrong with that ?

Hi guys

My name is Hukt - I have a Problem. Im a serial defoliator. But I only do it due to personal preference and cannot substantiate the benefits regarding yield or quality.

I do it depending on strain and wether growing from cuts or seed. It also benefits me due to enviromental conditions where I live as the weather flips at the drop of a hat and I dont have AC or fancy de-humidifiers ( indoor grow only ). I also choose this method as I have less trimming and less larf at the end of my runs ( 300cm x 150cm tent with 2160w of QB's & a 15 pot modular flood & drain ).

I just got fed up of the trimming and popcorn at the end of the run. I supercrop all the way through veg, trim a week before flip, then trim at around day 21, cut the feckers down whole, hang and dry whole for 10-14 days, bobs your auntie fannies your uncle and pete beats his meat. Im happy.

Just do whatever works for you and your system and see which you prefer. Ive tried all sorts of methods growing, with all sorts of systems, lights and medium, and tips and tricks ive found while reading forums, some work, some dont, but youll never know if you dont experiment.

I havnt come to argue nor upset anyone. When i first started growing I LOVED fucking about and learning stuff while growing.

What works for someone else may not work for you, but you wont know unless you try.

:hug::peace:

I agree with you 200%.

Never flowered plants under leds, I think you have to keep the canopy level ( need to get the canopy level) being early flower it maybe better top/bend all tops level with the screen, to give you a better harvest.

3 weeks in flower I would lollipop all the plants as you need a clear 1ft space between the soil and canopy to reduce bugs and keep humidity low.
LMAO WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT...... THE NEW LEDS ARE AWESOME AND DO A GREAT JOB! WITH OUT DRAINING THE ELEC!!!

So we can’t discuss pulling leaves off our plant to open lower bud sites to more light? Roger that I won’t mention it. :hump:

Last thing we want is you upset. How dare we test and try things on our own.
When this site has over 10 years of bro science failure crops on account of plant bucthering.. the experiment is kinda done if you ask me. At this point it is just new growers with a huge ego thinking they will figure something out that decades of previous noobs didn't. The only reason you are testing this so freely is it isn't the type of living thing that can scream stop, due to the needless pain you are putting it through. But I garuntee you, in it's own way that is exactly what it is doing.

TBH unless you spend loads of money on leds.

I have not see a single grow, where there has been 2ft cola's, I have wanted leds for some time but friends and the local grow shop tell me an less you spend loads on a led set up, your not going to get close results to a good hps setup.

No.
This cancel culture bullshit needs to stop.

You don't tell a grown man he can't eat steak because a baby can't chew it.

People need to crack a book, educate and make decisions for themselves, and most importantly...learn to shut the fuck up, mind their own business and quit trying to use "shame" to control everyone else.
This isn't cancel culture, keep your enlightened Joe Rogan, Trump aint guna vaccine me bullshit in check, you're embarrassing yourself. What this is, where I am from (clearly not America) is called responsible censorship of a cruel practice. I get it, not many people are yet on the bus of understanding plants are living things too.

You don't tell a grown man what?.. wtf does that even mean?. I mean I get what that means but what the actual fuck has that got to do with anything.

I can't tell people what to do, or eat? aparently.. yet you can tell people to shut the fuck up and read a book. You are giving off some seriously contraditcting, bizzare and down right incorrect statements in one single post. Have you been abducted and analy probed recently?. Spoiler, it wasn't aliens, it was your own government.

You’re dead wrong. Just upgraded to LEDs and it’s just stupid to not use them now is my opinion. Heads over heels compared to hps. But yes they are expensive, not nearly as expensive as HPS though.

He isn't shaping his words. Removing lower branches is a widely accepted practice by those who are even against full plant defoliation (like me). Indoor lighting has a penetration limit. Lower branches and leaves beyond that limit serve no real purpose to the end yield of the plant. If anything they stand to get in the way by restricting low level airflow and messing with RH. This is why they are removed.

It is only newbs/badly informed who remove top leaves and allow light to reach the bottom buds who argue otherwise. They don't understand that by doing this you are allowing light to penetrate yes.. but what ever light that gets down there is at a far lower intensity. The leaves at the top, in GOOD intensity have now been removed. Well done, you have lowered your end yield due to lowering light to canopy efficient intensity.

You know how this is true?.. because if it wasn't, plants wouldn't waste the energy growing leaves at the top. Just like polar bears wouldn't bother growing hair. As if nature has the luxury of being inefficient.

This moves onto the next thing. Topping plants is a loose form of defoliation. The reason this is done is for a completely human subjective one, being end yield. Our indoor lights are not as good as the sun so having a flat even canopy gets more of the indoor light onto the flat canopy in range of our inferior lights. After all that effort.. what does a defoliator go and do?.. remove all the leaves in that zone. Come on lads, get over your ego and see how stupid this all is.

Sanlight Q6W LED Light cost £460 each
and I would need 4 to cover a 1m x 1.2m room
or a Gavita Pro 1000 DE would give me simpler results but much better light penetration for £455

Maybe I could use 3 leds and save on the electric
get some money back over time.

I use one 600 watt redwood-vs in a 4 feet x 4 feet tent. Even at $800 it pays for itself within 2 years on electricity and bulb changes alone. Add it more weight per watts and it’s a no brainer.

You could get away with a single 400w led in there. And what is a sanlight, and why so expensive?

One thing I notice is how aggressive you non defols are. Not sure what’s really going on there. May want to look into that.
