Soooo...
That was 4 hours. Took me a while to get through. Trying to distill this down to do's and donts i got:
Do's
Coots mix (big surprise) - 1/3rd base with 1/3rd aeration and 1/3rd compost, ewc's are best
Soil test to check your base mix for deficiencies
Mulch on top of your soil, at least 3 inches, arborist chips are best (good luck finding arborists chips. I can't find a decent source in my area)
Water
Dont till the soil
biochar
Donts (aka "bro science")
compost tea
insect frass
rock dust (though coots mix actually uses rock dust)
soil amendments in general (stick with base mix above, ewc's, mulch and water. Only add whats indicated by soil testing your base mix)
kelp meal in particular is no bueno
gypsum and epsom salts arent useful in cultivation, though again, coots mix uses gypsum (taken from the gardening.wsu.edu website she discusses)
cover crop
flushing
Please note, I am not saying I agree with these things. Just trying to distill this 4 hours down into some take away points. I admittedly focused on the take away points that were most relevant to me, because...4 hours.
If anyone else made it through the entire podcast, please feel free to chime in with your own take away points.
