That HLG 350R must be a typo or something. It says from 60-630 watts. The new lights are now up on HLG's site:
HLG Scorpion® Rspec®
HLG Scorpion Rspec is designed for grows with low ceiling heights or vertical racks. HLG Scorpion Rspec uses 6x Rspec 288 Quantum Boards for an even light spread at just 12" from the canopy. QB 288 uses Samsung's latest LM301H and Deep Red LED 660nm. Commercial Indoor Horticulture LED grow lighthorticulturelightinggroup.com
HLG Scorpion® Diablo
This is the most efficient full spectrum Horticulture lamp with an efficiency of 3.0 µmol/J and over 2100 PPF output. HLG Scorpion® Diablo™ commercial lamps are designed for growers that demand both high intensity and high efficiency to maximize crop yields.horticulturelightinggroup.com
Looks like they also have this new fixture as well:
HLG 350 Diablo
HLG 350 Diablo Commercial Indoor Horticulture LED grow light is designed to replace a single-ended 600 watt HID with just 330 watts. With a rectangular footprint this fixture is ideal for flowering smaller grow spaces or vegging in commercial grow.horticulturelightinggroup.com
Definately is. I have two of the 640's and they run hot even with thermal substrate between them and the sinks at 150w perThat HLG 350R must be a typo or something. It says from 60-630 watts.
Oh, it is a typo. Looks like it's supposed to say 60-330 watts.
Ask @Stephenj37826Does anyone have HLG's email info? It's glitching when I try to contact through their website. They are selling out of kits left and right, wondering what will be restocked or discontinued.

they both banded together to sling shit (Scammy’s HGL chinese shit lights) a year ago, so fair game. don‘t give much on to what they have to say, as there is usually someone paying in the background.I do apologize..

You are missing reflector loss on that hps figure. In a sphere (true measure of total photon output from a luminare) you will see 1300s-1400s from a single ended hps using a hortilux super hps.The Gavita 1700e is 1700 PPF, and is only rated for a 4 x 4. I think they are slightly overrating the foot print of the light.
Gavita says the 1700e is a direct replacement for a 1000w HID in a 4 x 4 area. The Hortilux HPS is the most powerful SE-HID at 1600 PPF. Hortilux was also developed spe4cifically for a 4 x 4 area.
The HLG 650R is 60w-610w, and is 1700 PPF, and $1100.
What am I missing?? 650r is more powerful, and costs less???
One can buy a Gavita for $1300.
Gavita is 645w
2 factors in that cluster of a test. A he used a 1" thick sheet acrylic only over the QB288 fixture and not the puck fixtures which both where running the leds at similar drive currents. This acrylic degrades and losses transmission over time. B trapping the heat under 1" of acrylic surely causes a bit more degradation and does not represent over 99. 9% of real world use including in our complete fixtures.....The diablos would be running at .15w per diode, the r-spec would run about .35, this out of max of .6w. my guess is that light depreciation will be worse on an r-spec. Mygrow ran tests on a bunch of lights and found out that they all depreciated more than suggested by data sheet. Data sheet seems to have them tested at .2w and 85C, where as my grow had them tested at around .4w and around 50-60C. So either data sheet is wrong or the wattage thru the diode is really important, maybe even more so than temps. Standard advice ive heard is Tj less than 50C and you should not have to worry much about depreciation.
Exactly.... One tested with a hand held spectrum meter the other in a sphere. Seeing as light lab doesn't offer a color representation we try our best to be transparent.the units on the y-axes of these charts differ. but they pretty much look the same. which part is supposed to be the gotchya?
We can similar design with better coverage and higher PPF performance

for a lot of us it isn’t a moral quandary. We’re just discussing horticultural lighting. Not everyone uses hlg. There are plenty of other brands on this forum. This thread is just about hlg.pmsl- I admit I am not a fan of HLG never have been but when they run other companies down to sell there own product they lost all credibility some carry on as if they are they only brand in the market- they may have a good light but so do alot of others - if people are looking for new lights buy the best you can afford and look after it they all grow weed( as it is an actual weed so it will grow). not interested in the crap anymore ,pretty sure alot of others are over it.....
I'm jealous.I'm buying one. Was greatly impressed by their 550 Bspec. I am willing to try one out and see for myself. If I have to turn their 550 Bpsec down to 40% I wonder If I'll have to do the same with the Scorpion in flower?
So are all bar lights that aren't Fluence a rip off? BS. Bar lights have less of a hot spot than panels. Ive seen the same config as the scorpion in Diy on here already. I bought three 320's for $700. and run them in my 4x4 spread even and dimmed down to 500w. I wonder if my coverage is better? I know what will last longer. I would like to see the par numbers but Hlg hedges on those.First of all, bar lights are not from China. They were made by fluence and others and Chinese ripped them off.
2nd of all bar lights are not the be all end all for growing weed. Especially in tents. Far from it. They have hot spot problems just like most other commercial fixtures. They’re better dimmed down on racks growing micro greens or something.
this scorpion design, however is something new. True innovation that will lead to high ppf canopy with even spread. American innovation right there.
of course Chinese company’s will bootleg this design and hlg won’t be able to compete with them price wise either. But the people who know what’s up will pay extra for the real deal that won’t end up in a landfill with all the other Chinese crap after a few years.
The Diablo is too expensive for me so I will try the Scorpion Rspec. Greg gave me a really nice deal on three of the Bspecs a month ago and I love them. All my 4 x 4 veg rooms are now set for years to come. I have a few 4 x 4 flower rooms as well running Hortilux 600 watters @ 660 watts with overdrive ballasts.I'm jealous.
Depends how much height you have if you'll need to dim it. I run my 288 boards at 90 watts a piece and they get around 18" or so at the end of flower. I didn't measure with a tape though, just eyeballing. Which one are you gonna get? And how big's the grow area?
