I've done it both ways. Use the existing root system, but do not overwater. Water once with a veg solution and WAIT!
There is not enough draw from the plant material above ground to dry the soil fast. It may take weeks before the plant needs another watering.

Yes it’s the one above with the tape measure beside it. It’s 46 days old/since cut
First pic sept 13th, 13 days after cutting.
Second pic, today. Same plant 46 days after cutting

These were 3 weeks into flower and are now 2/3 weeks old and been under 24hrs light continually for that period, I've cloned enough to know its just not possible to root and revege a flowering clone in 10 days.

I cut stem at a steep angle, place in cup of water while I trim leaves. Then dunk tip in rooting hormone and place in premoistened jiffy pucks under dome. Mist leaves as many time a day as you can. 10 days on average and I have roots poking through jiffy puck
I put the dome in my veg tent as far away from lights as possible. Lights in that tent are the “Burple” led kind with a few cree cobbs added. Soil I buy organic whatever from closest hardware store and only amend/fertilize with “Gaia Green” organic products. No chemicals

It’s the only way I clone now I run perpetual grow you can save a few weeks off your grow they take long to get going when you cut them but when they take off they grow really fast with lots of branches really bushy and when I flip flowers show in a few days no additives

This is a monster cropped clone that’s 46 days old lol I call her “Hydra” she’ll be getting Scrogged and flowered in my 2x2 solo after her mom and another girl are finished flowering in there. She’s gonna be huge, 2x as big as her mom was when I started flowering her. Just got lollipopped and defoliated yesterday so not as bushy. Check out the main trunk though, like a gnarly monster growing out of ground. I LST’d the shit out of her but never topped her.
om when you clipped her? how far along in flower was she? how long before you saw roots? i need to try this today i am week 3 of 12/12

Maybe 1-1.5 weeks in, small poofs preflower pistols but not “buds”. And rooted average time for me, which is 10 days usually. Pic from last night before lights out, in a 1.5 gallon plastic pot for now. Just got her a 3 gallon fabric smart pot I’m gonna put her in right before her move. Shes gonna fill my 2x2 by herself, once 2 others that are currently flowering in it are done. The whole space will be hers under the Mars Hydro Ts1000, gonna scrog her too

Yes I cloned under 24hr light using my Growstar 600 about /feet above. Normally I clone under 18/6 but I also needed to stop it from budding like it’s mom so gave it 24/hrs light didn’t put it under 18/6 with other vegging plants till it rooted. By then it had roots and had reverted to veg state. “Monster cropped clones grow very fast and very bushy.
