It looks to me like you are in the harvest window, the plants could go longer if you like but any time now and you should be good. Just depends on how much amber you prefer. Whenever you are ready feel free to say it.......

A few more folks will be along I am sure to give you their opinions, good luck and good job being patient enough to wait for them to be ready. Most don't.

More amber makes it more of a couch lock high right? What would be the benefits of waiting a few more days?
It's really all about preference at this point. You said it was your first outdoor, have you grown indoors? Do you know what level of ripeness you prefer? I am going to call out a couple more opinions for you and see what a couple others think but as I say you should be good any time you are ready in my opinion. @Gwhiliker @PadawanWarrior @HydroKid239 @BluntMoniker @Dougnsalem , what do you all think?

how do you test out ripeness? I never grew indoors either.

Get a small can of damp rid (Unscented) from Lowes or Home Depot. Clip nug off plant. put damp-rid in Tupperware container, put something on top of that as a stand for your nug, put your nug on the stand (you dont want the bud to touch the damp rid at all.. dont smoke chemicals), then put lid on Tupperware container. Give it a day +- and you'll have a smokeable nug.

Ignore the flavor, as quick drying always causes a harsh shotty tasting smoke. But this form of quick drying does the least damage imo to the THC and other cannabinoids in the bud. Will give you the best representation of the high youd get off the bud currently.

I did see amber, but that looked like it was on a leaf, so it isnt indicative of overall ripenes. The pic of trichs that were on a bud looked mostly clear with some cloudy, maybe 75/25. Id give it another 2 weeks if it were me and weather allowed it, but I like a stoney high.

If you do the above quick dry method, you'll get a good representation of the current high the buds would give you, and can make an informed decision based on that.

Never heard of damp rid, that's a really cool tip. Thanks.

Can also use Dreirite or any other form of dessicant. It absorbs ambient moisture in the air, down to almost nothing in a confined space.

Will quick dry pot without having to use the microwave or oven or any other wierd stuff that heats the pot up and degrades the THC

I had bud rot on two buds on one of the plants. I cut it out and I don’t see anymore. My buddy says I shouldn’t wait to harvest. Is that valid or do I still wait and test for ripeness. I snipped two buds yesterday to try today.
