Advantages/Disadvantages - Greenhouse

there are a lot advantages to grow in a greenhouse
you can grow longer, more privacy, are just a few I can think of
the disadvantages would be that they can be very costly to build and maintain
you'll need an in a out fan and maybe a source of heat

I do not think Heat will be a problem as where I will be growing reaches 90 degrees here in beautiful southern California.
I think it would be relatively cheap if I used PVC pipe. What material goes over the top?
Are there any disadvantages to a green house? Does it receive less powerful sunlight??

Thats a great idea I have thought of before but never knew if it would work.
I actually plan on building a green house about 20+ yards in length so I can grow for my other fellow patients who have no where to grow.
I have about 20 acres but did not want to have to worry about hellicopters. This should be a great way to get rid of that worry.

You can use visqueen or materials that let in the majority of light, Mary will not suffer for that. The only major disadvantages that I can see are no wind (strengthens stalks and stems) and a possible pest-predator imbalance. I'm a few weeks into my first indoor and it's a fucking BITCH compared to outdoor! Something's eating the shit outta my plants. It's also a lot more difficult to treat pests because the room is small and I start choking as the spray gets into the air. Gack! 
No wind. Couldn't I just leave the ends of the green house open so the breeze still carries through, while hanging fans on the inside of the enclosure itself blowing on the plants?
Bugs could be a problem but I believe that I will be spraying bug spray from the beginning to try and eliminate any of those problems.
Also, I never thought about this until I saw a video on youtube but you may want to take all your plants out and re-sanitize your room. Wash all the walls all the corners and spray some dis-infectant and let it sit for a day or two. Sounds like a hassle but it could save you a lot of stress and time.

Yes, you sure could do that (as far as making air movement), just depends on the materials you use and your design, right? And, being in SoCal, you don't actually have to make it out of something like plastic or those corrugated sheets, you could use a white shadecloth kind of deal, that would allow plenty of air-flow, too.
As for my bugs, oh yeah, I have got a problem. It's just not a convenient set-up for me, I need more space to at least get around the plants. Ugh.. I won't get into it all right now, but it's been a battle for me to get what I need and get it set up the way I need.

use stakes and crap to keep the main stem of the plant up firm
so does all the UVA & B get through the material used for greenhouses?
Also a friend of mine had his greenhouse raided by the pigs, but he had nothing in it at the time... so although they wont be able to tell whats in it, doesnt mean they wont raid it
but yeah from what people have said in this thread, greenhouses are the way to go

i grew in a green house in so cal.
90 degrees out side means 114 easy inside the greenhouse.
my plants didnt hate it one bit.
but.
90 degree temps wont be back for months.
there is also the outdoor growing season to be aware of.
most people dont start their plants until late feb.
privacy was my frsit concern.
makes it nice and tropical.
keeps animals off.
good all around.
highly recommended.
