First grow

Decided to try and grow 100% indoors without a huge investment. Just a very basic simple setup. Two lights two plants and a small fan just to circulate air. I’m roughly 2-3 weeks into the seedling/veg stage on one and the other is only a couple days old. Any advice would help TREMENDOUSLY. Thanks everyone for your time.

Those lights won't be enough to flower the plants. In the short term, assuming they are LED, you may be able to squeeze more out of them by removing the diffusers, but it still won't be nearly enough.

The older plant is very small for 3 weeks due to lack of light. With better lamps they would be at least 2 or 3 times that size by now.

You'll also need a proper carbon filter and exhaust fan unless you're ok with a strong smell leaking from your grow area.

Growing on a budget can be done, but you'll find that if you really enjoy the process, you'll gradually end up spending the money for good equipment, as well as a lot of bad stuff if you keep trying to compromise, so seriously consider just going right for the good stuff. You'll probably only need a single, decent 100w LED board or strip for that space, so the investment isn't that big.

Both those bulbs are 100w leds. The big plant total time from seed to current is 20 days and the little dude has only been a week from seed. I’ve been doing a lot of research on this and you’re right about doing it right to start with. This being my first grow since I was 15 I did it mainly as an experiment to see if I could recreate my last plant. I’ve already made a shopping list for the next cycle . I do need a better fan though the one I have is too small for that chest. Worked great with one plant there but both being there now it isn’t enough.

Is there a way to “chop” the tall plant and keep it growing without risk of killing it?

Micro grows are small indoor usually low powered lights. The problem is you have a “micro” harvest as well.

if your budget is tight then micro grow might be the way to go. However more wattz = more budz.

The first thing to learn about LED grow lamps is you must go by actual wattage, not by "equivalent" wattage. The ones in the picture are absolutely not 100w bulbs.

If you ordered new ones, check the real wattage or you're bound to be disappointed with light output. Likewise if you actually use 400w of lamps in that tiny space you will both light burn and temp burn your plants.

Work out the area of your space in square feet, then multiply that by 30 to get the minimum amount of watts you'll need to flower your plants. I estimated from your picture that the dimensions are 2'x1.5' so that would be 3sqft, multiplied by 30w you get 90w, hence 100w would be enough.

The actual wattage is 200 per light. I bought two small grow tents just to get it over with one per each tent. The actual wattage for the led 100w bulbs is 14 watts but putting out 1600 lumens and 2700k

When I was waiting for my equipment I used household LED bulbs with great results.... For veg that is.

I was able to grow it out with 2 2700k and 2 6000k bulbs and it was 2 feet tall and bushy.

But you're going to want to get a better light or at least more household led lights with reflectors/4way adapters. And it will be possible to flower but don't expect anything crazy. Though you can get lucky.

I would do 6 of each. To be at least at minimal requirements

With the adapter, bulbs and cords/reflectors you have to start to ask yourself if it's worth saving 50% doing it the budget way. Or investing 50% more of this cost to have a legit light.

You have two extension cord sockets already so you could get three four way adapter (5 bucks total) and buy another extension socket and you'll be set.

55 bucks total about.

I hate to sound so negative, but while 2 tents is definitely more versatile than one, it does mean you'd need two fan and filter sets to control smell if that's an issue...

Honestly if I were you. I would ditch the 2nd plant, remove the lights. Set up your new grow light and do a reset back to VEG Week 1.
It takes me a day or two with good indoor lighting to get where you're at in 3 weeks .... Something to consider.

Welcome to forums, I hope you like it here! Best of luck!

got that right. i started off simple to. Then it got addicting. Then your always wanting to try new things to make it better and keep adding on or build up more. Then if you’re like me and want to use up that whole plant and let none go to waste get stuff to make wax and take all your leaves and trimmings and make good wax with it. But i used the hydrogalaxy 2000 watt full spectrum led from amazon. My buds came out dense. I also got into using some nutrients to add to my soil to boost the buds. Fox farm oceanic dirt i use. People always told me not to use miracle grow and went to this works great every time. Also good to check humidity levels if possible. Some strains need certain climates. I try to keep mine between 46-56% if possible then temps between 68-76 degrees if possible. And i keep my lights 18 on 6 off. It’s on a timer even. If he don’t have one of them i recommend it. Definitely help full. And with lights off you want it dark as possible on the plants. And if going cheap I recommend just getting some mylar reflective material and rig it on the walls around the plants so the light can get in tighter spaces and what not. Help it grow even.
