Yeap, definitely too acidic for the soil. Sorry man, don't mean to criticize you. It took me many attempts to learn how to grow weed, over many years. Failed on the many first attempts. When I started out, the internet wasn't that accessible, like it is today, it was illegal, and very risky. I never sold drugs, Marijuana was the only thing that helped me cope with my chronic insomnia and I was always overactive. Back then, the only way to get weed, was to find a dealer and hope for the best. Books about growing marijuana were illegal for a while in Canada. Marc Emery's movement, his store, his mail order seed business, and the magazine that he published all contributed to making those books legal again. I visited his store back in Vancouver many years ago, I bought the Marijuana grower's Guide, I studied that book and read it many times. It took about or times before I was finally able to grow buds. I smoked the leaves for the longest time, lol.
When all the conditions are perfect, these plants grow amazingly fast, but there are so many factors to control. My favorite growing medium is ProMix, I usually like to mix in a bit of limestone in with it, although I forgot this time. It helps to control the PH, making it slightly more alkaline, and helps with nutrient absorption. It also contains calcium and magnesium, which helps provide nutrients to the flower growing phaze and help prevent mold (bud rot). I find that the limestone enhances the plants ability to absorb more nutrients while controlling PH, lowering acidity. The trick is to get the balance right. Molasses, naturally contain sulfur, many trace minerals, and vitamin B to boost flower production. Sulfur is a natural anti fungal, the carbs increase production of beneficial bacteria.
I remember one of the first topics in that book was about over watering. It recommended that the grower allow the soil to dry between watering, just to be sure the plant should be allowed to start wilting before being watered. I did this a few times and I was surprised to see how long the plant could go. And I also discovered over time that dry soil pushes the plant to produce more resin, I think it's a defense mechanism. So for the last few weeks, I tend to torture my plants by providing a dry environment giving them nothing but water and very little of it. It's like part of my curing process. The plants ooze resin, while the dryness insures that old cannot grow. That's my way of flushing the planst, as part of the curing process, I litteraly torture them to death. The last time I was able to do this, it was the most amazing weed I ever smoked a lot of weed in my day, lol. It brings out the natural flavor of the plant, the molasses make the buds sweet. It was kind of hard to smoke a joint of it because it was kind of like trying to smoke a block of resin, lol.
