That’s plain scary stuff! Mississippi just approved a law similar to Oklahoma’s. However we have no stipulation on out of state companies invading us, so I’m expecting it. I know we are going to experience a similar market boom and crash. I just hope to recover my initial investment before it tanks. I had been wondering if any Oklahoma grow ops had started closing up shop yet. I guess I’ll start trolling Craigslist. I would love to buy out a complete grow to move to my shop. If you see any bargains let me know. lol. I’ve driven further to go racing. Here's my take on it. .. We have more growers than Cali, Wa, and OR combined. There are around 18 dispensaries per 22,000 population with only maybe 10% of those being card holders. There was no cap on growers, processors, etc. Everyone and their grandma are trying commercial growing. Being over 2 years into it, Im already seeing people selling lights, dehuyes, coolers, etc. I think we are beyond capacity. Im seeing Dispo's close up because they just can't compete. We used to sell by the pounds, now people mostly buy by the QP. They're trying to carry 130 strains, and most of the time it just goes bad sitting on the shelf. You give someone 130 choices, and they're gonna lock up and just buy what they have heard of before. Not trying to kill your dreams bro, but it's a tough market... especially right now with all the outdoor sitting around .. there are literally 100's of tons of it sitting around trying to go to processors, but they will only do splits. We got royally fucked on a split deal on trim. We just got our check in today for $614 for 9 lbs of quality trim that this guy took in April to process into batter, shatter, diamond sauce, etc. I've seen business partnerships break up because of one thing or another, growers going from one company to the next chasing that dollar.
We branded very early on.. there's not a county in Oklahoma that has not seen our logo, or heard of our Company, but the Dipso's have so many choices of growers that it's become a race to the bottom. 2 things that I wished they would have put into the 788 law.. 1.. no out of State owners. 2. a cap on growers, processors, dispensaries. They fucked the whole thing up by allowing these 2 things. The law stated that you could put seed in soil on Sept 27th 2018. I saw dry bud on the shelf in October. How the fuck does that happen unless your out of State partner brought it in from another State??
There is absolutely no loyalty in this business. If you supply a quality product, and the Dispo can buy it for $100 a lb cheaper from someone else, they will do it. Right now, the average wholesale for quality indoor is ~$2000-$2500 a lb. Outdoor is going for $650-$750 a lb. Trim is fucking tough to move, even if it flows like lava. $100 to $200 max a lb. I used to sell it for $550. Now you can't hardly find anyone that will just buy it, they want to do a split 50/50 AFTER they process it and sell it all.
A lot of growers have investors (we don't), and they get pushed to flip early, have a tight schedule to trim, and generally breathe down their necks most of the time. Fortunately, we had the capital to do a new buildout, and start our own grow without any help. We get up at noon, go work when we want to, and have no bosses.. but, it's still alot of work, and I enjoy it most of the time (I hate harvest) LOL....anyways... here's the numbers by the OMMA.. current standing businesses with current licensing.......View attachment 4783625
Yes, the out-of-staters are coming for your market then. That’s plain scary stuff! Mississippi just approved a law similar to Oklahoma’s. True.Yes, the out-of-staters are coming for your market then.
A lot of people (I know a few) tried to jump into it here without having growing experience on even a small scale, and also not knowing how to run a business on any scale, let alone ag, industrial, retail, or the like. It's one thing to be able to produce a 5x5 tent of good quality for yourself and your friends. It's another thing to produce, process, or distribute viably on a commercial scale turning a worthwhile profit. I've got some old friends from the way back with grow ops in and around the OKC area. I've toured a few. I've mostly been underwhelmed by what I saw. The people who went in without proper funding, expertise, and not able to maintain a cash flow are folding.
I was looking a few months ago but I can't rationalize the cost, nor do I have the use for a 500 site aerocloner. 25? Sure! 50? Meh. Anything more for home use is just stupid. When with a few 25s I could get a small op going, but 500!Well...after @Smacker said about checking craigslist, I looked at what people were offering in OKC. There are some posts for equipment that obviously came from going out of business, but they're asking too much. You can't know how many hours of use/abuse they have or how well they maintained those lights, ballasts, pumps, filters, processing and other equipment. Based on the posts I see right now, it would be better to buy new stuff for a decent price online.
Please pardon my intrusion. Sitting here scratching my head as you discuss buying a grow and prices too high. 25 -50? Go back to basics. Thats dirt and 2 under cabinet LED's. Then HID, almost bullet proof, for finish. Why the tech and buy someone else's failure? Honestly curious as to the logic. Thank you. Apologies again.I was looking a few months ago but I can't rationalize the cost, nor do I have the use for a 500 site aerocloner. 25? Sure! 50? Meh. Anything more for home use is just stupid. Dude, if you want an aerocloner just build it yourself with $50 in parts from Home Depot. You can find plenty of instructions on here. Some of my very first grows I built based on aerogrower instructions on this thread: https://www.rollitup.org/t/harvest-a-pound-every-three-weeks.116859/I was looking a few months ago but I can't rationalize the cost, nor do I have the use for a 500 site aerocloner. 25? No apologies necessary. That's exactly what I was saying, for the micro grower, there is little point in even looking at a failed op for equipment. Please pardon my intrusion. I'm just poor and call them as I see them. My spring donors are over 25. About $5 if I count a beverage. LED for bit now. But faithful to MH and HPS. Bulb prices bite.No apologies necessary. I made a 2 site cloner from crap I had lying around the garage. One of my easier improvisations actually. I don't have a humidity dome for it but it currently has a 100% success rateDude, if you want an aerocloner just build it yourself with $50 in parts from Home Depot. BUT I found that sometimes I would get stem rot problems that @DoubleAtotheRON described in his thread here: https://www.rollitup.org/t/having-hell-cloning.1040650/
Since I got back into growing, I was cloning in solo cups with soil and a ziploc bag on top, and I was transplanting into soil to veg and finish. When I wanted to be able to make more clones without the fuss of Solo cups, I just upped to the tray/dome and plugs described here: https://www.rollitup.org/t/oklahoma-growers-thread.1037697/post-16034481
If you intend to finish out with aero all the way, then start by cloning with aero, but the rooter plugs in tray/dome are less fussy...IMHO.

2 $1 large storage containers on top of eachother. About 14-16" of diffused light. Or a starter tray with one.Cannabis is the mother of innovation!
That is pretty, although I doubt you get as far north as Perry.By the way... Happy New Year everyone!.... This is our current Premium 10th Planet about to hit the shelves...View attachment 4783658
