I've never grown catnip indoors, but I get monster plants outside. I would think it would like the lights you use to veg.

It's a plant that does better with topping or trimming. It always grows well after it's been wallered around on by my cats.

If you see buds start to from cut them off, the plant dies off somewhat after it blooms and it is kind of ugly. My cats do love those smelly tops to eat and roll on though.

Since you just bought it, you should put it in a bigger pot, those ones sold in the stores tend to be rootbound.

many thanks, i plan on repotting it after it starts to look a bit better. right now its pretty sad and stretched. id put it outside but the cats would muderlize it for sure, theyre junkies.

Once you get it repotted and it perks up and starts to grow good do a nice topping job on it. That will force new growth in lower areas and make it more bushy.

The part you cut off you can give to your cats fresh. Catnip smells stronger if you bruise the leaves a little. After I break some off for my cats I crush it lightly in my hand to release the smell. Make sure you wash you hands really well after that, you don't want some stoned cat attacking your hand.

Catnip deters aphids, japenese beetles and ants. Rubbing some on your skin is a natural mosquito repellent.

i am trying (for the 2nd time) to grow some catnip from seed... they seem to have a very low germination rate... and are real sensitive when they are sprouts... hope they make it though...

We had some outside a couple of years ago, and it went pretty well by itself, until the neighborhood cats found it... :P Then my dad took it indoor and kept it in his office.

I grow mine outside, it's a pretty hardy plant. When there are warm spells in the winter it takes off growing so I go and break off fresh pieces for the kittys. They love it.

yeah, but my cats are like little furry crackheads...if they didnt eat the whole thing immediately, they would kill each other fighting over it!

I knew someone once who grew their catnip inside a cage to keep the cats away. Funny stuff. Once it gets big, taking pieces off will actually make it grow better.

My cats are furry crack heads too. I bring some in the back door and all 3 of them are right there, gimme, gimme gimme.

i had some in my veg room. had some mg soil to waste. catnip didn't seem to like that shit any more than mj does. if the damn seeds weren't so tiny i'd try hempy catnip.
