container size for auto flowers in a no till grow

hello all, so my question is a pretty simple one. generally in a no till grow, photoperiod plant roots will grow wider then deep so having a wider grow bag then deep often times is ideal. however auto flowers are more dependent on their taproot for their over all size.( do their roots also follow the same pattern with growing wider then deep ?) so in a no till outdoor container grow running auto flowers would it be a better idea to go with a deeper smart pot vs a wider size so that my plant can achieve its full potential when it comes to size and final weight?

the smart pots I had in mind are 15 or 20 gallon, and the 15 gallon's dimensions are 21' H x 14.5 D. the 20 gallon would be 23'H X 16'D

Well after racking my brain on what to do I’ve said fuck it and decided to just go big and multi purpose. I’ll be using square fabric pots that are 40’ gallons with a dimension of 24”x24”x16”

OR should I go bigger still?

top-dress only - otherwise leaving an existing plot relatively undisturbed under the soil line when planting successive years

Auto flower will only get so big hence the “auto”

I wouldn’t go above 25 gallon given she won’t get larger than 3’ ( strain dependent )

What you have just said doesn't negate having grow bags? Look up organics search in forum.

I wouldn’t go above 25 gallon given she won’t get larger than 3’ ( strain dependent )

Correct however I’m also planning on using photos with the pots as well, so with that in mind I think 40 is a good medium.
