Flip?

My second grow, and I currently have this plant that is around 1-1.5ft that sprouted on beginning of dec so approx 8 weeks now. They were on a cheap led in the beginning while the first grow finished so that plus my topping and lsting frenzy definitely had an impact on its height. In my opinion I’m happy with how they look but I could’ve definitely waited a little longer before training. Can I flip this now and the other similar 3 currently growing? I’m planning on giving them darkness on monday and then starting 12-12. They’re hybrids and the grower told me 1-1.5ft stretch. I have around 3ft left of growth -0.5ft for light so 2.5ft leftover . Any opinions?

I would LST that.

No need for a dark period at flip.

Im worried about lst because I really want some vertical growth they seem to be super short compared to the 7ft monster sativa on my last grow lol. I’m gonna do some research on the darkness thing it couldn’t hurt tbh. But thanks!

Why do you want it tall? Indoors you're better off with shorter plants. It's your plant though.

Explain please !
Since we're indoors using artificial light we want our plants wider vs taller. Artificial light doesn't penetrate like the Sun. We want a nice even canopy if we can help it.

If you LST that plant, it will also allow better airflow under the canopy.

Overall, LST can increase your yields. So if you want more, and bigger buds, you should check it out.

@Doug Dawson wanna tell this guy I'm not just high, lol.

@PadawanWarrior is right, I would lst them. You said in your first post you had an LSTING frenzy, I don't really see any LST done so not sure what you meant by that. More height does not mean bigger yields. The idea of indoor is to LST so all branches spread out and than grow up the same. Pot plants have Apical dominance so all energy wants to go to the top. When you LST you lower that dominant top and allow the lowers to catch up. It's the same with topping. You break the Apical dominance of the main stem forcing it to push out to two stems. The difference is LST creates basically no stress on the plant while HST/topping creates stress. Taller plants actually have less yield most times as it will get one big cola and a bunch of smaller ones. If you LST you can make them all basically big main colas creating much more bud.

That dark period thing is also pointless IMO.

Forget vertical growth - LST is 90 degrees different --- You are no longer growing "up" - you are growing "out".

Let the stalk get 8" - 14" tall, then start directing growth almost parallel to the soil.
Most make the stalk circle - I went straight across the pot and made a sideways Christmas tree shape lol
--- remember to allow room to work below the plant - watering, pruning, etc.

Spread all branches and get them to an even plane - all the same height.
--- Budsites that produce LARF will produce stacked colas because of the even light exposure.
--- Apical dominance will be broken and all colas will be mostly the same size.
--- Remove the top node & defol 1 week before flip.
