Keep
It
Simple
Stupid

Old saying. Use Pro Mix. It is Canadian. Buy the HP. High porosity. Helps keep from overwatering. BX has water retention. Helpful in desert climate.
WHat nute line u reccomend for soiless. And coco u haven to water daily. Soil 3 days give or take a day. How often for soiless medium like promix hb ? And is it more or less same as sunshine 4 mix ?

I think it’s a better product than Sunshine but Sunshine is good stuff. I’m in Interior Alaska so watering times here can be extended somewhat. But I’m usually good for 4-5 days after feeding or watering without droop or roots drying out. I used BX setting up a grow for a medical patient in southern NM. Indoors in summer it still had to be watered about every 3-4 days.

For newer growers I always suggest KISS. Keep it simple and get bud. Get a few successful grows in and then start pushing nutes or growing in coco. People claiming they started in hydro because it’s simpler than soil have some ‘splainin’ to do. I’ve done it every which way and soil is easiest if you’re paying attention and not trying too hard. Especially organic super soil. Sow it, water it and watch it go. Top dress if you note deficiency but you’re going to get some damned good bud all other things considered.
WHy is soil easier then pro mix hp (soilless) in you’re opinion ?

So it sounds like pro mix hp or sunshine is easier then soil ? Less chance of bugs and no way to over water

What’s the dis advantages ?
None!
Lol. Love me my pro mix.
You can def over water.
I like using the bx i find its more 'bulky' and doesnt get compressed down as much as the hp can. And i find it keeps the plant more stable earlier on before roots are fully established. It also holds water better so when those roots fill out the container you dont need to water everyday
After my grow the pro mix gets tossed into the compost bin or onto the vegetable garden
Another plus of the legalization is theyre making bales like crazy. I just bought one that was so fresh it smelled so sweet and good mmmmm i could almost take a bite. Lol

U mind if I ask a few follow up questions. First is that the only dif in the HP and BX ( Cuz compact was one thing I red I didnt like ) Second i Also red that u hafta prep (air out) mix like this or maybe that was straight peat moss so can u go from bag to solo cup to pot ? And can I mix more perlite if I wanted to ? And last is there a specific nute line u reccomend or which u use ?

I use it straight from the bale. I pH adjust water. I also routinely run bamboo skewers through the medium all the way to the bottom of the container. Doesn’t hurt roots at all and aerates and breaks up compacted medium.

What

What nute line U use ?
AN Jungle Juice. Same as GH Flora Trio. The present crop vegging now I’m trying Iguana. I use city tap water. I don’t leave it out. I use Xtreme Gardening Mykos WP extensively. The roots on my plants fill the entire container. Not rootbound because my containers are always large enough. But filled with fine roots. I only give cal mag about week 4-5 in bloom or if a strain shows deficiency. With JJ they don’t show calcium deficiency for the most part.

Sounds excellent!!! I grew with the 3-part GH nutes for years. Good stuff. Start at 1/2 of the recommended feeding schedule to start. Next feed 3/4 and then the full strength feed.

I can ramp it up that fast with in first 3 feeds be at full strength of feed chart and carry on from there so if u saying I water every 3 days and I feed every watering too. SO full strength in 9 days approx ?

If you want to feed every time you water don’t exceed 50%. Pro Mix does retain nutes with the moisture. I feed and then water twice before feeding again because of this. Keeps the salts in solution and used better. Easy on the nutrients.

O good I don’t want to feed every time And do u have to ph your water with up and down and feed before five to plants. I ask cuz Iam in fox farm and my tap is 7.9 and the buffers fix it for me And how is pest control in this. Any gnats or anything else ?

I only pH adjust rain water. Otherwise I dump it in. But check your pH. Some of these guys are claiming pH 8 on tap water. Find that hard to believe but more than one claims it.
