Can I Pause Nutes In My Hydro Without Killing My Plants?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post, so go easy on me. :D Actually, I'm towards the end of my very first grow. YAY for me. Here's my situation.

Being a complete noob, I made what I now realize is a big mistake. I have 3 different strains growing in the same hydo setup, and each is going to be ready for harvest at different times.

I know that flushing with only PH balanced water is critical during the week prion to harvest. So my question is if I stop all nutes one week before harvesting, will the two remaining plants die during the timeframe?

My hope would be to restart the nutes for the remaining two plants after the mature plant is harvested. However, I'm not sure if this is feasible or not.

As far as my setup I'm running a Super Closet bubbleponics system.

I welcome any and all suggestions.

Thanks!

SB

Running plain water the last week is def not the key to success.

As said just feed to the finish. Lower your ec the last 2 weeks.

Not feeding the last week only saves nutes. Has no noticeable effect on the final product.

What is your current ec?

Much thanks for all of your replies. My current EC/PPM is in the low to mid 800s. I should also mention that my reservoir only holds about 2 gallons.

It's interesting that a week-long flush is not critical. I've been voraciously reading and researching and the topic of flushing seems to come up quite frequently. Some folks even suggesting that a poor/no-flush can negatively impact taste, etc. That being said, I'd tend to trust the opinion of your guys as you no doubt have a lot more experience then I.

Ec and ppm are not the same. Ppm is scaled. There are 3 scales for ppm. Different devices use different scales to calculate ppm. While ec is always the same. So try to use EC when discussing dissolved solids.

If using the .5 scale 800ppm is about 1.6 ec.

1.6 ec is ok but on the hi end. A few hydro guys here don't go above 1ec let alone 1.5.

Do you use tap water? Does the 800ppm include the tap water?

The people talking about flushing and taste are talking bro science.

The real science says it don't matter. Blind taste taste test said it don't matter.

When the plant is close to done they will start to naturally fade. Just like natural plants in the fall. If done correct the color will start to fade from the leaves and your buds should get some color.

If you can get a grow to do that you will have amazing smoke.
