so t12s are the best?????
It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. To begin with the t designation is a reference to the circumference of the bulbs. a t-8 is 8/8th's, a t-12 is 1 1/2 ". The pin pattern on the t-12's and t-8's is the same, those bulbs both fit, the output ratings are about the same . If you are just trying to root seeds and clones the t-12's or t-8's are adequate for the first few weeks. One bulb for the t-5 cost as much as the fixture I used and the bulbs came with it. I have used the 4-8 bulb t-5 fixtures from seedling to harvest and they do a fine job, Its just doesn't fit what you were asking for. I am using a procyon 100 over my clones for the most part now. The less expensive light will be best for the money. the cfl's would be about the same. VV:eyesmoke:

Here's my vegging shelf. I don't know if you need a "box" per se, unless you need it for stealth reasons.

I used an 8' wire closet shelf, and mounted a set of adjustable shelf brackets above it. I used the 18" shelf supports to cobble together a "support bracket" for the 4 tube t-12 fixture.

I can raise the fixture with the adjustable bracket as they grow, and can keep the lights within an inch or 2 of the plant tops.

If you're gonna go out and buy new stuff, don't buy T-12 fixtures or bulbs. Buy T-8, or T-5.
T-12 is being phased out, and will soon go the way of the incandescent. T-8 was supposed to be the replacement, but I believe that T-5 will be the ultimate winner.

VictorVIcious, thats a really nice clone stand. I was looking at it and a bread rack came to mind. The shelves on a bread rack are pretty much infinitely adjustable, with plenty of room to mount lights.

I think you will find those are t-4's or 5's not labeled t. I think its label U. I looked at them some time ago, they did have a decent output. One of the reasons I didn't buy it was I couldn't mix the spectrums, it require two bulb and I am guessing those are not cheap. VV:blsmoke:

I am not working at the bakery anymore. lol The bread rack also make dandy drying racks. Thats a nice setup you have there, and the availabilty of those square buckets was what I thought of for my first soil grow. Its good to see the plastic getting recycled. VV:eyesmoke:

I get the square 4 gal pots from one of the local Mexican restaurants. They get their sour cream in them. I asked the dude how many he could save for me, and when I came back for them, I had 24 CLEAN buckets. Dude was good enough to run them thru the dishwasher for me.

Square is good!!! Much more space efficient.

that is what i got, it's just starting mind you.. and i'm using the t5 6500k 2' to start them up a bit on 24/0 right now, then going to take it out and put more 2700k 23w cfls in there , 8 to start with, the 4 in there now are just to add some heat and extra light to pop them out of the ground, then i'm goin 12/12 to finish.. 6 plants

i can fit 2 of those containers side by side in there.. but i'ma try 1 to start with hah
