Where's this 80% stat coming from? 5 years ago most people thought flushing plants before harvest was the right thing to do as well, so even if 80% of coco growers do use perlite (bullshit) that's not a very good argument.

I've been growing exclusively in coco for many years and have researched it to death. I've done several side by side comparisons...perlite is completely unnecessary. But if you want to use it go for it, it's really not going to make a noticeable difference either way. The only thing you're doing is wasting perlite and space for your roots to grow.

When my lights come back on I'll post a pic of a Humboldt Seeds California Sour Diesel I have growing in a 1 gallon fabric pot using 100% Canna Coco/Canna nutes. Might be useful for the person giving 2835 shit for his cola size.

Canna is very good , I’ve been using their coco n nutes a long time, but last 2 grows I’ve switched to gold label 60/40 coco /hydroton pebbles and the beeeeatches seem to like it

I've said myself in the past that perlite won't put weight on the plant I'm aware of that, I've also done many grows over many years.
I found coco (canna exclusively) needed it, I recently got a brick of coco that imo confirmed my personal suspicion I think canna is to wet for too long especially so for young plants.

Also forgot to say , beer n weed fault, I always rinse my coco, or 60/40 with ph water.

Doesn't using that take up 40% of the volume in your pot?
40% of inert material that takes up room where roots can grow.
I don't see how that's a good thing.
But that's just me.

In fact, I wish it would stay hydrated longer so I didn't have to feed twice/day. I gave up plastics long ago, so if your experience is from plastic pots I'll just have to take your word for it.

100% pebble grows are hydro with a constant supply of feed cycling through the roots, not the same thing. Like Mick said, if you're using coco and adding pebbles you're just robbing root space like you would be with perlite.

I didn't have symptoms my aim is to avoid them.
I've used both regular and air pots, my climate cool, ave humidity 80% coming in.

I'll have to take your word for it drying out to quickly I've never known of it unless my pots were too small.
