Any media including coco or perlite is taking up space where the roots can not grow. The roots grow between the media and can not occupy the same space as the media. The actual mass by volume or space that the roots need is quite small.

But coco holds the water with nutrients the roots absorb, perlite and hydroton do not. They just waste space that more coco/roots could be filling. The roots also occupy a lot of space if allowed to and the plant is healthy. Most of my plants are hard to get any coco out of after harvest because the roots completely take over.

Perlite holds and wicks water it's great medium for capillary.
Come on man you said you researched it extensively, If you look at the root ball you can see the hair like roots around the perlite so it encourages root growth.

so the main companys that make coco coir for growers say you dont need the perlite (Canna,Reiziger,Pelemix and alot of others) ,but because some growers think its required its become fact correct? - I have not seen any proof of perlite making any difference in the products been produced - either- cannabis or vegetables----

It doesn't hold enough water to make it worth adding. Do this: fill a pot with 100% coco and another one with 50% coco and 50% perlite. Water both thoroughly and sit side by side. The next day put a soil hydrometer in both and tell me your readings. Perlite is beneficial in soil, but unneeded in coco.

Yes I'm aware of this with 50/50 that's the reason I use perlite, I don't want wet slop, I'm wanting something a bit airier.
Idk what your experience is with perlite but my experience is feeding large plants through capillary with 100% perlite I think your under estimating it.

We can agree to disagree and agree on they both work :peace:

each-to their own, canna may not use perlite but they sure as hell use hydroton, these “master growers” on here need to step back and keep personal preferences to themselves

I haven’t said it’s better or worse if you check my post all I said is I’ve changed to that and the plants enjoy it. I CERTAINLY NEVER said you should or shouldn’t use hydroton or perlite. Make sure your right before u comment.

No but you are talking about people keeping comments to themselves, yet you threw your's in. Just making observations.

It's the internet. Opinions are everywhere, especially here. Not sure why you think you get to tell people to keep them to themselves. All I was saying. Have a good day bro.
