ok both those happened.white fuzz on leaves = botrytis
everytime i got it in cloners my plugs were too wet or/and the rh was too high in the dome

These https://www.amazon.com/Root-Riot-Plugs-Cubes-714129/dp/B00AE1582Uremind me .. what media ? coco plugs ?
I'll try again. and again and again...I do stick it in as fast as I can. I cut, plop in glass of water. Carry to the operating table. quick scrape with a razor, dip right in gel, then powder, then anti wilt soln, then into the cube and trim the leaves. Guess I could try scraping with a razor under water. once read to soak it in water 24 hr after cutting. I never tried that.when you cut your clone on the plant you need to insert it fast in the cube or air will enter in the stem
dont look for 99%rh
then can't transpire anything because the air is saturated with water
get 25 degree and 80% rh in the dome
I did do the squeeze and shake this time. But I think the water was a bit too deep as the cubes were seemed saturateed. Then I decreased the water. I think last time I reduced rH to maybe 80 they looked worse and I rose it again. But I may try lower it down again. Feels like I'm totally guessing.root riot cubes hold much water, a bit like rockwool
do a shake or two before inserting the clone in to evacuate some solution
wait. are your clones sitting in water ?
in my situation this will be difficult in a humidity dome because the water would have to be too deep in order to submerge the airstone. I'd like to figure something out but Im not sure how. I could have water like maybe 1 or 1.5mm deep is what it's looking like based on what I'm seeing and hearing.Put an air stone in your medium. It'll boost the oxygen and improve grow rates. It's been tested.
Sorry it was a joke based on someone else putting airstones in their coco thinking that it'd supply extra oxygen.in my situation this will be difficult in a humidity dome because the water would have to be too deep in order to submerge the airstone. Oh that's funny, I thought you were onto something. I have a dome tray you are supposed to put water in the bottom. I could put an aistone in the water. It's like a bubble cloner. seems better than having the water just sit stagnant.Sorry it was a joke based on someone else putting airstones in their coco thinking that it'd supply extra oxygen.
wow ... your plugs are constantly immerged in a layer of water ? very bad practiceOh that's funny, I thought you were onto something. I have a dome tray you are supposed to put water in the bottom. I've got more control over my humidity to try and solve my cloning issues and want your advice. I've been lucky if half of my cuttings make it. Read a lot of suggestions and often see people saying to take the humidity dome off after only 1-3 days. I took my dome off this time and they're in about 60% humidity but a few of them are showing problems bending over at the top like their heading to death's door, lol, you know what I mean?
Some more info. Cuttings were semi hard woody lowers off reveg's, I know that increases difficulty. I cut em, razor scraped and dipped in clonex and root powder. Put them in seedling tray dome with Riot plugs. Added tap and put dome on for 6 days. Was too hot first 6 day so I switched lights to one 20W led bulb 10" above, and makeshift covered with a white pillow case between light and cuttings to dull the light but allow airflow. Temps 79F, rH 63%. Changed water after 6 days.
My primary question is- has anyone determined the perfect rH for rooting? I haven't seen that % posted anywhere. Should I go higher? In prior attempts I've seen the 100% humidity result in mold/damping and dying, but I've actually had more luck leaving the dome on with vents closed at 98 - 100%, as long as they don't get mold. It never takes mine less than 3 weeks this way. I've also lost some that had good roots after transitioning to soil. So again, isn't there any evidence on the best rH% for rooting?
ok thanks I will try...though I thought I was following dome instructions. 12 hrs ago I made a change but it likely be too late to save these. Still I hope to learn how far gone is too far gone. I'm 80% in the air and airstone in water under the styro which I propped up so airstone can fit and water is just below the bottom of the plug so not touching but real close. I'll have to take more cuts to try.wow ... your plugs are constantly immerged in a layer of water ? very bad practice
thats why they wilt
dont do that
just soak the plugs with your solution, give a shake or two and put in the dome WITHOUT water standing in the tray
they will pray again
and johnny L over here has it rightLeave the dome on with vents closed for 2 to 3 days. Open the dome a couple times per day to exchange air and if needed, respray the dome.
On day 3 or 4 start opening the vents a bit. In my experience, it's okay to pull the dome off day 8 or 9. If any start to droop over, put the dome back on and check again the next day.
I also run a tiny bit of water in the bottom tray to get the humidity up more.
coincidentally I was looking for info on how long clonex lasts but nothing definitive. At least it's still purple and I kept it in the fridge. My root powder is ages old too but it's dry powder so idk if it really goes bad I'm skeptical thati t would. Thanks I'll look into that product. Mean time I'm trying my old gel yet again with the other changes.hey i just wanna mention to you, that i was suddenly having a lower success rate using clonex gel with root riot cubes - a friend of mine suggested i switch to Dip n Grow from the clonex, and everthing went back to nearly 100% rooting success
give that a try and see what happens - let me know if that works for ya - im interested to hear - it helped out a few others i mentioned this to who ran into the same problem
