Smell is gone after curing

Hi,

I harvest, dried for 10 days +- and put in 32oz jars with Integra boost 62 , package of 8gr.
I put 2-3 in each jar

In the beginning it smelled strong.
Then the smell disappear and now it barely smells..

The weed is very good and tasty, but not tasty as the weed I used to buy...and when I open the jars, very light smell.. and some of the jars are with kind of "old" smell.

All jars are free from mold and stuff, I double checked them with microscope.

Happened to my harvest from 8 months ago, and now to new harvest from 3 months ago.

Can it be that the Integra boost is killing the smell while save me from mold?
Or maybe I am putting too much packs in one jar?

Sounds like you are jarring it up too early.
Hang dry 14 days 55-65F, 55-60 RH, then buck em down into bins or paper bags for another few days. You dont need humidity packs if you dry your herbs to the proper water content.

I don't have personal experience with those moisture packs, but from what I've heard, it sounds like that is a likely cause...you can definitely overdo it with desiccant packs in other situations, so I think putting more than one in each jar probably did it. It's a little more work but next time definitely try to jar them up without the packs for comparison, just keep an eye on the RH and air them out as needed. It really doesn't take too long before they are dry enough where you don't need to babysit them all the time.

Moisture packs are for long term storage ........ AFTER it has been stabilized before pack. They are designed to push / pull moisture on an “ already Rh stable product “. You must learn the cure WITHOUT those packs .

If you plan to consume your weed as soon as it is cured , then packs are a waste.
If you grow perpetuals - packs will keep your long term jars stable. They do not initiate cure , your drying and actual moisture level of buds in a jar without will tell true Rh in jar. Put a hygrometer in jar - seal - monitor level ( if too high ) or squishing together remove from jar ( lay out or mesh dry to continue drying ) then jar up again to check it . Burp as needed.

I'm still playing with Oct and Nov jars. Over dried. Still did what I do. Opened the jars when humidity was where I wanted it or above. It has taken a few weeks of effort. Pain opening and closing. Yet my potent Stale tasting and odd smelling goodies are smelling more normal and the taste is better than fresh dried. Put in the work. Cheats just cheat on end quality on home scales.

I didn't know that I have to cure before adding the packs...

I have a new harvest on the way, will do that.

I would just concentrate on polishing up on original jar method to get the RH right alone.
Allow the bacteria to break down chlorophyll without products that muck up the process.
Packs have one job ... to stabilize END PRODUCT , nothing else.

When do you consider it to be END product?
I grow for personal use, I can't even share with friends too much without raise questions, so I need to store them for long term.

So without consider 2 weeks of drying +-, how much curing time do you feel its safe to add the packages?

Meters are +-2 accuracy so should be variation between 60 and 64. Plus I have 5 testing and none increased. Anybody else notice this ???

Not used integras but tried biceps. What I noticed is that if the hygrometers vents to allow moisture into the internals are blocked it takes more time to read. Try repositioning it and check next day

It's been 3 or 4 days and still the same. I don't think these Boosts are working at all!

Terpenes degrade over time so the longer you cure your weed the more smell you're going to lose.

How is this thing supposed to be detecting something in the air because it's separate from the pack, and telling if the pack is not working any more? Now that I think of it I'm ready to call bullshit.

Trow out what they teach u n dry the plant over the last week of its life in the soil slow and jar after cut down

I'm leaning towards my explanation which is that Boosts don't work. are there Boost tests online? proof of working? Mine might not be working. I could do an oregano consumer reports test but why am I baring the cost to do that when Integra should do it?

Don't know if you put too much in jar, but minimally I think you still need to burp your jars if you put the packs in there so soon. You need some gas exchange for curing.
