If you were running over 600 watts hps it wouldn't be so big of difference but at 400 watts I think you should take the plunge with something around the same actual wattage

In a 4x4x7 tent, I use 8 Cree cobs cxbs each running @50 watts totaling 400 watts, with 9 plants in 3 gallon pots no training I let them grow normal and some of them got light bleached.

I just switched out my 400w HPS for 200w LED (telos-0008 ) and 2 X HLG qb120 (70w each) to cover a 2'x4' footprint, I'll try and let you know how it goes.

A 400 HPS would put out about 1/3-1/2 of the useable plant light a 400W LED would put out. Honestly even bad LEDs would be more efficient. Lol.
250w and 400W HPS bulbs have very low efficiency.

400watts of quality LED will put out more visible light than 600watts of HPS. There is a huge infrared spike outside of the visible spectrum when using HID type lighting. Depending on your grow environment, that missing IR in LED fixtures could be either good or bad. Personally I like CMH + LED.

They're good,I only bought them cuz they were on sale but a 4 pack for less then $100 and I've been able to use 2 for this flower tent and had 2 to spare to make a light for the mother uh .. corner/crevice lol
