I bought a $25 infared thermometer today from home depot. If its right it say my leaf temp is 7° cooler than my ambient temp. Is this good or bad?
Ideally, you would measure temp and humidity in side the canopy for the most accurate numbers. This can be difficut to archive with out a dedicated sensor in the canopy. If your tent temp is off from the leaf temp by more than 2-4 degrees from the leaf temp it is likely due to the placement of the tent sensor. Similarly, where you measure RH from can also deviate from canopy conditions. You may find that you have to offset the numbers slightly to match your set-up.Awesome. So really it means they are fine? It throws the VPD numbers all out of whack
Ok. I have my temp sensor at canopy height but is is probably a foot away from the nearest plant. Should i have it near a plant in the center? My plants are really small still. I see now you typed "in the canopy"Ideally, you would measure temp and humidity in side the canopy for the most accurate numbers. In the beginning that should be fine, as the plants get bigger you will get your most accurate results from the level of the canopy where the most leaves have direct access to the light. Then just make small adjustments to your system to dial in your desired range. So in the canopy.....ideally nearest the best looking plant?
Yeah. I am realizing that now. I need to get my plants more light and lower temps. I am in the process of buying a Tripp Lite air conditioner for my 5x5 tent. Should be perfect and good to go after getting that. I can duct the cool air in while ducting the exhaust air from it out my window.Good info on getting accurate temp and RH readings. See way too many sensors hanging right off the light, or above the light.
Important to know the RH up there before it gets expelled, but the main focus should be canopy temps/RH levels, and root temps. (usually winter, all the time for hydro)
