You shouldn't need CalMag supplements if your nutrients already have the proper amount in them.

I've never used calmag in my life in either coco, hydro, or soil. If you are using decent nutrients they will already have plenty and then if you're using tap water there will be even more.

Calmag is the most overused additive out there. These days people just assume they need it. More often than not they don't. The goto remedy seems to be to add calmag regardless of what the actual problem is. Too much Ca and Mg can be detrimental and cause issues with other nutrients and the availability of the plant to access them.

I don't understand how in the past few years all these growers are growing in conditions that are lacking Ca and Mg. I don't think they are. It's more they see others using it so they just assume they need it. Kind of like those dumping high P/K boosters on their plants because they think they need it for bigger flowers. They don't and many actually reduce the yield and quality of their harvest by overfeeding their plants too much stuff.

You read these posts of someone with a young plant growing in soil and they talk about how they just started feeding calmag. It always amazes me. Why are people feeding a young plant just calmag? It makes no sense.

Cal Mag over used by most growers I agree with xtsho if your properly using your nutrients then you wouldn’t have a deficiency. Remember your basics NPK and follow the recommendations made by the product provider. Good Luck

I have a quart of CalMag that's 6 yrs old. Used about 40ml.

Best use I've seen yet? A Jack's 321 feed schedule. Called for 5ml/gal calmag and reduced epsom and calnit. Brilliant! :bigjoint:

A preventative for what? In case you don't measure your nutrients correctly?
The need for Calcium increases as the plant grows, especially during flower. My very soft water + Nutrients might be seemingly enough for the plants in the seedling and early veg stage, but as the plant grows, a deficiency could show up.

since its always smart to prevent issues before they arise and stunt the plant's growth, and because a lower dose of Calmag is never going to hurt your plants in Hydro or coco, you would have to go nuts on it for it to cause lockouts, I think for Biobizz the prevention dose is 0.8mg/l during flower.

Cal-mag is needed if using distilled or RO water as there is none in it. Most good soils will have dolo lime in it which will provide calcium and help with PH. However, that will eventually break down as the soil gets used up by the plants. Most nute lines will have calcium and magnesium in them and you can get away without but it’s up to what you are using. I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. A good bottle is cheap and will last you FOREVER! Lol

I use biobizz light mix soil and biobizz nutes. First time growing so i dont know much about what they have ..

Thats almost all Peat moss, you will be 100% fine adding Biobizz CalMag at like 0.5-0.8mg/L, if your water is soft (so around 200 microsiemens)
there is probably also dolomite lime in there to bring up pH of the peat moss, so you should be fine with your soil for a while. but Calmag is cheap and won't hurt your plants, definitely not if your source water is RO or soft.

100% false. My nutrients provide all the calcium and magnesium my plants need in coco.

I've added zero calmag to either tent in this grow. I did give Calcium nitrate and Epsom (MgSO4) along with Jack's 5-12-26 but only in veg. After flipping to flower I've added zero calmag, no added calcium, and only giving Jack's 5-12-26, which has no added calcium. I'm growing in soil in 7-gal pots. So the only calcium these are getting since flower is from tap water, that's it! Tap water has 112 mg calcium per gallon. That's quite a lot, I think, and obviously it's enough to grow healthy cannabis!

You don't need cal mag during flower if you use tap water and grow in soil, I can tell you that.
