Hello, I'm trying to start my first plant, but I have no idea what I'm doing and I have failed 3 times now. I'm using a drip system with hyroton, I've tried germinating the seeds in papertowels, put them in soil to mature a little and then transplant, but they die. Should I use rockwool? Should I not put nutrients in the system for a while? I honestly need as much help as I can get so please leave advice. Please!

Well we all got to start sum where....

Do not do it this way by trans planting, it will cause allot of stress and may kill they , but know that allready.

Yes u need to use RW when u trans plant them from the paper towel.
RW will work just fine if u plant it a the right time. The tap root cant be too long cuz u will damage it when u plant it. They need to be no longer than 2-3mm, then place them in the ,PRESOAKED, RW with the tap root down just about flush with the top of the RW.

Thay need to stay in a tray/dome for a few, may be a week, till they have roots cumming out of the RW. Then they are ready for the Hydro system. I wood not use a drip system unless hight is an issue.

A flood /drain syatem is a hole lot easyer for ur 1st grow. Keep everything very simple on the 1st time and u will thank me for it.

Should I not put nutrients in the system for a while? I honestly need as much help as I can get so please leave advice. Please!
No u dont need any thing for thr 1st few weeks till they need it. U only need Distilled water, maybe superthrive, and thats it. The distilled water is allready close to the PH u need to start the seeds, but make sure its at 5.8 when u water them.

Hopefully this might help a lil, but let me know if u need more help. I have a few ??????? myself.

Do u have any pics of ur setup? I love PICS :hump:

What light are u useing? Flouros,HID, ect.

Whats the size of ur grow space?

How many plants are u going for?

I new nothing about grow till i came here and now i know everything! JK

You can buy Jiffy-7 peat pellets (or other) at most any hardware store.

You could flood the tray, wrap the seed in enough paper towel to keep it from falling through the crevices, and then put the seed/paper towel so that it is resting on the flood line and cover with more hydroton, then just flood the tray intermittently with a weak nute solution.
