Question for you indoor growers- Auto or Non and a few questions?

I was thinking as Im about to order some stuff to do by first indoor grow ever (Ive only done 3-4 outdoors).
Question: Do you grow auto flower or non auto indoors? The reason I ask is Im high and got to thinking (lol) if you grow non autos how long do you lett them grow before switching to a 12/12 cycle to get them to flower? How long does the process take or do you allow it to take from seed to drying?

If you grow non autos could you technically grow a huge plant if you waited a long time before switching the light cycle? I realize size would eventually make you stop? Im just imaging a huge jack and the bean stalk marijuana plant lol.

And on the flip side of that question: Could you do a really short veg cycle like 4 weeks then flip to a 12/12 and cause the plants to flower making for a smaller yield but one that is fast and controlled entirely by you?

Thanks a lot for reading my rambles. I really appreciate everyone's feedback on this site. I feel like I get the answer to one thing and then comeup with more thoughts and ideas, I find this so incredibly interesting and cool how strong these plants are and what they can do when trained.....my GF prob thinks the same about me?

Yes on everything, kinda

You have no control with autos... NONE
They do what they do. I've had 5oz autos and 2oz , and everything in between
I have a Northern Lights auto now, day 33, no sign of flowering yet

Photos are endless opertunity

5gal veg for 69 days
2gal veg in 28 days

So really depends on what you want to do or accomplish

Thanks so much for sharing. So if I understand correctly you can get non autos (Is that what you called a "photos"?) start to finish in just about the same time frame as autos if you wish?

Do most indoor growers have a pref to non autos then since your holding all the power telling them when to be done by vs autos as you said do as they wish? I know you cant speak for everyone. Was just curious your take on that?

Thanks again for sharing. Very interesting info you provided.

Autos are basically their own world, usually a less potent, smaller, of a similar photo strain

Yes photo you have full control, kinda
Strain and pheno dictate the flowering time, usually arou d 8-10 weeks after flip to 12/12
Can also shorten that by running 10/14, less light, more dark. I've taken 16 week sativas down to 13ish weeks

I've had autos not flower till day 50, and still take 8 weeks to flower

I rarely veg a photo for 50 days, usually Around 28-40 days

I really appreciate all this info. Thank you very much! Im becoming very intrigued about this indoor grow. I bought a ton of non autos from Green Point Seeds. After trying to grow all last summer outside in S. FL I was thinking fck non autos. That was a nightmare but now I have a reliable option i can control much more. Thanks again!
