First Closet Grow...NL with 600w HPS+ 4 CFL's

See i must agree yours look 100 times different to mine but i bought them from NIRVANA.NL so im assuming they are correct... Yours are so much more wider leaved and shorter too... Im wondering if its temp related and also because my light is waaaaaay up there above them, alltho its prob a lot to do with the fact ive never nuted as of yet... im also on a 400watt HPS from start to finish with 16/8 from seed till flower. i havent got the time really to go too over the top with it im more looking for just something too stop me having to buy it anymore however i am doing it a different way round this time too see if it makes a lot of difference.

See i think with all the things i had in there to raise the pots closer too the lights i was takin up valuable air space and therefor makin the room hotter with less co2 in the air also the soil i was using wasnt very good and really started to compact down towards the end so ive switch to the soil i used for my first one for the enxt grow..

So we'll see how we go hey!


They are really starting to perk up aint they propper lovin tha branching too!! hopin for all fems for ya my mate hopefully my next one will actually be sucsessful lol keep the pics comin too man im all eyes!

They're taking off now tho. Shit loads more branching is pushing through and I've got branches with have split into 4, and each of those have split into 3 or 4 and they are also now starting to split again! lol. So it's kinda bushing outwards alot as well as upwards. Got my other seedlings in the soil last night. Will post a pic of them once they break ground.

I agree with ya here tho mate. You def want to lower the light rather than raise the pots. Will keep the plants cooler too with a lot more air above them. Give the heat a bit more of a chance to escape before it reaches the plants.

The soil I use is Homebase Enhanced stuff. In a purple bag. Ya can;t misss it and it's only like £3.49 a bag. Seems to work wonders. I was tempted to buy some proper stuff online but it's too costly once ya pay p&p on a 50L bag of compost lol.

your leaves are massively different to mine... but i think its because of the different kinds of lights too... Ive only had one male so far out of the pack i bought so they didnt let me down!

All of my bag seed have now cracked open so they are getting potted tonight in a bit and the northern lights one has cracked.. anyone else use a little piece of sandpaper along the line that they crack open to help the sprout set free? ive found it works wonders... a bit fiddly but hey ho out for a free smoke! hahaha

Im gonna get me sen off to homebase on satday i rekon! ive got a little soil left but not enought to cater for 8 plants lol and i also need a load of decent size pots so thats my saturday sorted! ha

the other thing was because the soil had compacted down it left a ctale air gap inbetween the soil and bottom plant leaves which ive no doubt didnt aid in the growing process...

but ill be honest with ya mate i only know what ive read but ime learnin more n more each time!

Plants still seem to be growing strong! Looking a lil droopy in the attached photo's as they haven't been watered for 3 1/2 days but all in all I'm pretty pleased with how they are turning out. 1 is growing really well whilst 2 seem a lil behind, not really sure why, but I've decided to flower them now as I don't want to be restricted on height. I'm planning on them getting no taller than about 1.2m which'lll still leave a good 15" from the top of the plants to the light. They're about 40cm (maybe 15") now.

Started flowering them on friday night, and after 2 nights of darkness, I have noticed a diff in the height. fingers crossed at least 2 turn out to be female (including the big bushy bright green top performer lol)



I've also started another grow, only 2 plants, sensi skunk #1 bought from the Sensi Seed bank. Using the 4 26w 6500k CFL's i used to start this grow and have 2 above each plant. Gonna leave them under those for about 2 weeks before transferring them under the 600w HPS. They broke the soil on Thursday so are 3days old pics attached.

Aint it weird man they are completely different plants to mine! I might send ya one of my seeds to grow see if its the strain of NL thats different lol Just kiddin mate ive only got 2 left lol

Your plants characteristics are a hundred times different too mine... then again mine was a male so that could be a part of it too... Ive now got 2 NL above the soil and 3 bagseeds which i might add are off like troopers! only 1 NL left to break the soil so fingers crossed! lol Off to buy my soil on saturday and pots think im only gonna need 5 so i rekon ill get away with round ones for this grow but will see when i get to town... Weve got probably 15 different shops i can go look in so bound to find what i want somewhere... and sent my messages about the nutes today too so ill get them ordered on sat!

Na no signs of sex yet. Although i'm not 100%. Got a feeling the one at the back has 2 small white hairs coming out but I'm not sure they could just be new growth. One of them is growing a like a mofo and has 11 leaved sets now and I'm fairly sure the next set has at least 11 (poss 12 or 13 but still quite small to count). Is that normal? lol

So your seedlings are off to a good start then eh?? sweet. Mine are coming along nicely. Will post a few pics of everything later or tomorrow. 1 of the seedlings keeps leaning over tho which is an arse. I keep pushing mud up around it to keep it upright. If it carries on I'll put more mud in the pot, up to the first set of leaves. Really they could do with a fan and the 600w light but because i'm an idiot I started flowering the other 5 plants under that light. It would be alot of hassle to move the 5 pots out of the cupboard every 12 hours to let the seedlings keep growing so looks as though I'm gonna veg the new seedlings completely under the CFL's. Shouldn't be a problem tho as they are growing quite quick.

If you're thinking of getting some more seeds, check out the Sensi Seed Bank too mate. They say they gaurantee their seeds are female and not hermies!!?! They started selling feminised after every1 else as they state they wanted to get them right and that they have them now genetically stable. They only do 5 diff types tho but some are meant to be pretty potent (Jack Flash in particular). They got a Limited Edition "Feminised Mix" containing 20 (!!) seeds for €75. Think that's my next investment! Def check out the site tho

hey poon, nice looking plants there. I'm pretty sure your drooping problem has to do with watering if the temps stay under 85. How do you determine when to water?

Also one other thing I would like to point out: flushing is not just for the final week before harvest. The byproduct of nutrient absorption by the roots is salt buildup. Periodically flushing this salt out of the medium is very important to prevent lockout of certain nutrients as well as to stabilize ph. Flushing never hurts or stresses a plant but instead helps the roots do their job. Every two or three weeks I pour a couple extra gallons of plain water through my pots and then feed as normal. This is essentially cleaning the rootzone to keep it working efficiently. This has nothing to do with your particular drooping problem but is a good practice for the future.

Damn right mate ill have to get on it and have a look... Im actually considering White Rhino this time... Ive ordered a exhaust fan to go in the ceiling of the closet and ive also got some rubber foamy kinda stuff to seal all the light getting out the room so i can keep the door shut for more hours in a day! its a bit dificult at the mo because if the baby decides shes tired the light has to go off and its a pain in the arse trying to regulate the temp n stuff when i cant get an exact rythem goin off... easier in summer obviously cuz no baby in the room but im sure the longer days can only add to the healthyness of the plant!

Yeah man seeds off to a great start! ended up with 5 breakin the soil out of 7 which i thought was pretty good, well i ended up with 6 but one was a bit gay so i fucked it off! so ive now got 2 NL and 3 Bagseed all above ground and comin on strong.

The bagseed i planted before to see what it was like is still alive! And ive give it some right shit! And i mean propper abused it i tried to supercrop and ended up breakin the top off didnt even stop it growin mate!, lol, so im hopin that if i get a male i might try a few times to cross it with the NL (assumin i get a FEM) and see what we come up with!

Bury it mate! as deep as ya an just leave a centemeter under the leaves!

You thought of just flowering early? leave em to veg till they have got 1 complete set of leaves with 7 blades then just bang em in too flower! they wont be as big but then you will have a clear closet for the next lot once they are all done!! Cuz it defo would be a ballache to keep movin all 5 pots lol i did it with one and it pissed me right off! Ended up flowering early! lol

As for pics man my Internet is propper unstable at the mo and is being a right pain in the arse to upload pics so i am workin on it trust me lol

I did'nt realsie that flushing was something you do every few weeks? I have never done it on any of my other grows... Mind ive never used propper nutes as such so that may be why i spose! good info tho man reps!

Yeah it was definitely a watering problem in the end. I've sussed it now I think. wait til the soil is dry an inch or 2 down and i give em about a litre of water each. Put half dose nutes in every 3 rd time. They seem to be drinking ALOT more now tho and are drooping every 2 days. Give em their water and they perk up nicely tho after about 3 hours. I love that part! Seeing em stretch back out reaching for the light!

And I agree with ya on the flushing. I'm not gonna overdo it, but I can water my plants in the closet so figure an bit extra every fortnight or so would clean out any excess build up of nutes there might be without having to move the plants or anything.

lol! I'm thinking I am gonna stick em under the hps. but not for about 2 weeks, then I'll flower em. I gotta identify any males from my current lot first as there really ain't no space in there for anymore at the moment now they are bushing out. And I think I'm gonna have to raise them a fair bit too to make sure the big girls don't steal all the light!

I took some pics earlier, bout to eat some grub but I'll get them up tonight. I wanna see how your seedlings are coming along. You got yours under the 400w right? and I think they broke soil on the same day (14th) so I wanna know the diff growth rate between your hps and the 4 26w CFL's I got mine under.

Right, it's that time again...pictures! Everything is running pretty smoothly at the minute. Temp staying around 80 during lights on and drops to a low of about 68-70F during lights off. Have changed my watering now to every 2 days as they seem to need it. By the end of the second day they droop real bad so I'm having to. Only feed with half strength Ionic Bloom every 3rd watering and ph all my water before to around 6.5 before anything goes into the pots!

No sign at all of sex yet tho! I thought I might see the beginnings of something by day 7?!? Oh well,.. I'll have to be more patient.

Seedlings are comin on mint mate mine are much smaller! however they have had Miracle grow organic compost at our homebase for 4 quid a bag!!!! And 3 gallon buckets for a quid so 4 and a bag later they are now in nice yummy fresh clean soil so i should see quite a difference over the next week or so i rekon! pics goin on tomoz! Mind they all look dead small now cuz ive raised the soil up to make sure the peat pots are well covered so it looks like 2 leaves sproutin out from the soil lol]

Fingers crossed eh! I think the one at the back is a female. There's def a couple of new tube shape things appearing (calyxes is it?) and I think there's a lil white hair there too! Will know for sure in another day or 2 with that one I think. No signs at all tho really on the others. I'm hoping they show soon and finish around new year time (says 45-50 days on pack). That'll mean a month of curing it and a sweet sesh (well,.. what's left after I've picked at it all through January) for my birthday at the end of Jan!

Yeah I'm pleased with the seedlings. Growing faster than the NL did. I reckon the 6500K light spectrum helps ALOT tho mate compared to whacking em straight under a hps. Gonna give em a month of veg (like the NL) and stick em straight into flower with the current ones. Get a new set of seedlings off (or hopefully a couple of female cuttings) when I do that and I reckon I'll have myself a lil perpetual smoke thing goin on lol. 1 month in veg and 2 months in flower. I'll have 2 sets a month apart in to flower whilst the newbies start off in the veg closet. With the curing takin a month too I'm thinking this should work. Couple oz a month off 2 or 3 plants would be sweet. Save my ass from driving for fuckin miles, payin thru my ass cheeks and getting robbed with shitty wet weed!

Bought this shit earlier man, half oz, 2 big buds, wet as fuck! Sticks n all!! Cut the sticks off,.. 2g gone. Stuck it on a paper towel and plate on top of my ballast in the grow cupboard to dry it out. 2 hours... another 4g gone! 8 FUCKING GRAM LEFT! A blunt later and I got 6 gram left. I was pissed man and put a call straight in to make sure that don't happen again but it's made me even more determined to make this growin shit work! I know you've all been there!!
