Simple question about watering soil

I would start it up. It's much easier to dump water down the res than water it in. Plus being dry there, it'll always keep the right moisture level.

The problem would be I would need a base to collect any water that comes out that hole. The rooms are in my bedroom with carpet underneath everything. So I can't be messy. I did look for bases a long time ago, and didn't really find anything that looked decent. I should just flip sooner. I've been lazy, so they're huge. I still have one in my veg tent that's about hitting my HLG lights, lol. I turned the power down some, but I need to move it to the flower closet like months ago.

I was gonna take summer off, but I was like what the hell, I'll just keep them rolling. I do need a break though. I've been growing nonstop for almost 3 years straight now. That's why I've been getting more and more lazy about it. It's not like I'm gonna run out anytime soon, lol.

The bag idea is a good one... your soil is so dry it's become water repellant. It needs proper soaking. What I have done in the past is wrap the fabric bots in bin liners and cut small holes in the bin liners so it takes some time to drain... you get saturation before it drains away.

honestly you're probably right.. i haven't grown many times before this one and when i transplanted i didn't pre-soak the soil like i should have. they are really nice and wet now but i think i will do something along the lines of finding a tray or something to place them in and keep an eye on them until no more water is absorbed from the tray and go from there

also i've never grown in fabric pots before and they are quite a bit different when it comes to watering and how fast they dry out, etc. thanks again everyone for your help

Yea prolly not a good idea then. They'll get big fast and it'll force you to work more often. Lol...I know what you mean though. It is a lot of work sometimes.

Just make sure to keep your waterings consistent and you'll get the best results.

They get big fast in the 15's too. They first start growing out, and then all of a sudden they start taking off. It doesn't help that I go straight into 15 gal from 1/2 gal pots.

Lol yea I'll bet! Those roots start hitting all that open soil and start growing like crazy.

Ya, I mean at first they don't really look like they're growing, and it's because the plants just working on growing roots. Once those roots grow out and it realizes it has all that extra room, it's gets wider. It likes to fill the pots. So one way to make things easier, was when I started in 3 gal, and transferred to 15's a month or so before flip. But I don't like transplanting, lol. And I try not to disrupt my soil, because I'm trying to keep the fungal hyphae network all intact.

Yea that's killer! I'm gonna have to put a tent in my living room downstairs with a 3x3 bed. It's the only space that'll handle the weight and it's absolutely not idea, but I really want more soil volume.
