2021 Massachusetts Outdoor Growers

Awesome looking plants. Fabric pot size, soil? Strains? Impressive on the pruning. I just did a little defoliating the other day… pm already started on the blueberry twist. Needed more airflow.
It’s been a rough summer… days of rain high humidity.. doesent help that I’m on the coast of mass by Salisbury, fishings been great though lol. Even having trouble with my tomatoes and hot pepper plants.
Honestly I don’t target blues. Mostly take my
Kayak out in the Joppa flats. I like the 4/5 am high tides. Always catch tons of
Schoolies and sometimes a monster. Last years best was 35 pounds. Did commercial lobster fishing for awhile from pierce island in Portsmouth. I’ll float an eel and mostly do top water with Zara spooks.

This is just my second grow, soil was reused from last year... amended with BuildASoil Craft Blend Nutrient Pack, Worm Castings, Coast of Maine Lobster Compost and Recycle-Sil.
Mammoth P - microbial inoculant
Pure Crop1 -Insecticide and Fungicide, replaced Need Oil, glad I made the change.

I’m not familiar with building soils … that’s awesome. With those plant sizes already I would think your being worried about root bound. Any plan for transplant etc? Mine are in twice the size and am worried about being root bound. Again like I said I mostly done a flower room indoors 15’ by 25’. Outdoor is my calling I just hate all these pests and weather right now. I used Michigan made mix with hp pro mix. From there I use cal mag and ph my water. Apparently Michigan made mix will feed your plants 8 weeks. No issues. Just going to add papas perfect poop for a top dressing when “two weeks” into flower. We shall see. I highly recommend the Michigan made mix so far.

I've been mostly catching schoolies this year, haven't been able to go out super early or later in the evening so that probably doesn't help. Caught a few on sandy point at plum island last week chunking mackerel and throwing bucktails. I took my yak to Joppa flats last year. I went in at the captains fishing parties and cruises dock near the jetty's going out into the ocean. I came back in on the outgoing tide and almost got sucked out into the ocean because I was way too far out lol I've never paddled harder in my life.

Here is a photo from two days ago.
My goal is to have a harvest better than last season, which was affected by powdery mildew, moths/ caterpillars, humidity and fungus, botyritus and rot. I used no fungicide nor pesticides.
This season, I have sprayed defguard biofungicide twice, and have bought some insect netting mesh to cover the openings to the hoop house. I also bought some bt for caterpillars, but would like to keep spraying to a minimum, if at all. I do not want to spray in the flowering stage.
What do you guys all think? Is it possible to have a clean harvest in Massachusetts without spraying chemicals on our flowers?

Oh man I’ve been there…..last year I almost cut my line by that 35 pounder getting dragged. there’s a little boat launch right past downtown Newburyport on your left. … easily launch a kayak by the yacht club. Haven’t been out too much this year. Work hasn’t corresponded with the times of tides. If you like largemouth bass fishing I got some legit spots for ya.

How does the purecrop1 work for you? Bought a bottle and have heard mixed reviews. I hope it will be effective in the fight against powdery mildew, and the caterpillars.

A consistent rotation of Neem oil and thyme oil sprays works pretty well on my veggies. I'm thinking you shouldn't use those as foliar spray after flowering starts. Switch to a soil drench instead.
