The best training type pre SCROG?

Hello everyone, I'm jus about to start my scrog for the first time, seedlings are 2 inches high and I'm after some input on training plants beforehand.
I have a few options and was wondering if anyone with experience could input.

1) Should I lst early bending main shoot down and allowing new shoots plus main to reach net then continue weaving unto scrog is ready for flower.

2) unclebens topping then again waiting till my 4 main shoots hit net and scrog.

3) Leave plant to naturally grow above net first then start weaving. (Net will be around 9 inches from pot).

Or maybe all all them will produce same outcome regardless....any thoughts? Thanks

I wouldn't/don't cut anything off in veg.

Just thought I'd share my preparation of super/monster cropping whatever it's called besides tying over? It was cloned from a plant 3rd week into 12-12 however its not a monster clone as such... Cloned 1st of June, with the bottle on it Yesterday before tying After tying And 24hrs later...

Nice grow but I was told jus growing nodes through the net isn't a true scrog jus support netting, doesn't a scrog consist of weaving from veg and then flipping when 80-90% full whilst still training in the stretch phase before stems get too brittle?

Yes if you like you can do that way but it takes a little longer and you have the hassle of maintaining it during veg, just tying over is good start for that it'll give you x amount main stems.

A true scrog as opposed to a kid on one? A net/trellis by definition makes it a scrog but its all irrelevant word play in reality.

Yeah I get it aslong as it gets an even canopy is the end game. So u would recommend early lst? This is what i was leaning towards I have 2 tents so would like to try your way and the weave way then see which I prefer. Thanks

Ah that's the perfect situation to learn 1st hand, you can't beat hands on experience.

I certainly wouldn't say not to start early, I expect your full of enthusiasm and want to get your hands on it lol, so by all means give it a go, even better give both a go that's perfect!

I top starting very early. Top 3 times in a row. Leaves 8 main branches. Then I start supercropping early. Both snapping as well as twisting. I have 7 strains going outside and all are pretty much the same height and shape.

I top once (Uncle Ben method) and LST after, then i mount the trellis on the tent and use it.

You want to give some type of training to see how the plant responds.
So i top, manage to have 4 main branches or hopefully 4 main branches.
After that, i LST them, main idea is to active secondary nodes on those branches. In my experience, not every strain shoots branches from the 4 you manage to have. Maybe 2 of them just grow "straight" into a future single cola, and maybe the other 2 have lots of secondary shoots.

This is my second SCROG, just a noob still. Will def go with 2 plants next one: if looking from above, canopy is more like oval shaped rather than circular, so pretty sure i can manage 2 smaller plants in this space.

When I used to scrog, I’d top a few times early, then bend, snap, twist and tuck all mentioned above already, then around week 3/4 I’d add another net just to support them come later in flower.

Always preferred a scrog with clones than seeds though, just my preference.

There’s no real rules to it mate.

Some people flip before the screen is full others fill it up and flip. I used to fill 80%ish then flip.

Yeah seems like mostly preference really guess there is no 'right way' I will try different ways see what suites me better. With my tent that's around 5 weeks flower now I topped half and lst half same with first grow too, seems like topping gets plant alot less bushier more light to buds but in neither could I get an even canopy which did affect my yield due to light penetration which is now why am trying scrog. Very good info thank you

Top at the fourth node and then weave the side branches out to their fourth nod and top them which will promote further branching. When weaving turn the flowers up to the light at the net and let then find their way to the light. That's what Ive seen, tried.
I'm shifting to Auto's so we'll see how that plan has to change due to the short veg time of the Auto's.

I love the mainlining method, but I don't bother with a net. I'm still trying to determine the # of primary bud sites per plant that yields the best buds , and also the size I like. 8 colas each grow too big-hey if you like big buds, grow 8 or fewer colas. 20-24 per plant seems like the sweet spot and 4 plants will fill a 4x4 tent nicely with those #s. Keep experimenting for yourself to see what you like best. Giant buds are more prone to rot and you are "putting your eggs in one basket" so to speak, more/smaller buds reduce the chance you will lose a lot of bud to botrytis, though I've never even had it indoors before, I'm still traumatized from a bad case outdoors many years ago.

I didn't think to add some flowering screens.

That's 3 different grows not different stages of flowering.

How are you getting on with yours?

I'm getting on ok, I have 5 plants at nearly 10 weeks flower my 4 autopots in veg are weeks behind schedule....if you remember they got burnt coz I didn't know ecothrive coco was hot...my bad. I had to flush them then growth was really slow because they were overwatered but once they dried out they have spring back lost around 2 weeks of normal growth more I think. I will put some pics up 2mo.

I start topping and training early to give my plants the structure be easily scrogged. The pic below shows the stalk structure. I leave the ties on and as the plant keeps growing the LST trains the branches out more and then when I transplant the plant has the natural bush structure we all want when it comes to scrog grows. They look healthy very even and neat, what node do you top at? I have lst 3 of mine and 1 topped (tho I do plan on using all topping method in future) they are weeks behind but they are now growing fast so I will put screen in soon.
I'm putting another 5 coco autopot scrog when my soil grow is done in 2nd tent I learnt a lot from first 2 grows lots of experiments and problems. I just had to chop most top cola off my mango in the middle due to bud rot I have added an extra dehumidifier but I do think alot of the problem is buds too thick.... at least scrog should give me more nodes and smaller uniform nugs.

Just lollipop and trimmed my one tent yesterday as I made the switch to 12/12. First time I did SCROG from the start and trimmed nothing until yesterday. I usually do a quadline like training for my grows but tried something different this time. Also did SCROG in my 2nd tent and running 11/13, minus the lollipop in my other tent, but filling the net nicely. Lennon on left, Malawi on right in my 2nd 5x5 tent
