Switching up the mix

I’ve been bumbling down the organic route for a few runs now with sub-par results. I got interested by sub-cool’s mix, but it’s been shit for my girls. I’m slowing learning and researching proper organics and microbiology but I’m still learning. For now I’m looking for a recipe I can follow until I get my feet. I remember seeing a recipe mix by greasemonkeymann that strayed away from soluble amendments but I can’t find it. If anyone could steer me in the right direction i wild greatly appreciate it.

Awesome! Thanks bro.
Here is my most recent recipe. Been having great results.
2.5 gallon ewc. Highest quality possible. Homemade is best. 3.5 gallon promix hp. 2 gallons pumice stone.
Just over a cf
To this 3/4 cup each kelp, alfalfa, crab, neem.
3 cups total npk.
1.5 cups basalt.
1.5 cups Gaia green volcanic rock dust
1 cup oyster shell
1 cup gypsum
1 cup brown rice.

mix and serve:)

usually about a gallon of water to start cook

Perlite is really fine also. Despite what lots of people will say. I think If perlite has a chance to “float” or move around than watering practices are way off.

Wonderful! Thanks for taking the time to share your recipe. Unfortunately I’m stuck with bagged compost and ewc I ordered online (wiggle worm) due to moving recently and having to leave my old compost pile behind. Having trouble sourcing actual thermal compost locally and same luck with ewc. In the meantime while my new pile composts, is there anyway to liven up the bagged compost and ewc I have now? Would an AACT make my shitty compost lively enough to use for my next run?

I've been separated from my compost pile too. Wiggle Worm ewc are OK, as far as mail order compost goes. Still, they are not great. I've been looking into alternatives. For about the same price as the bagged EWC I grabbed some Roots Organics "Terp Tea" Microbe Charge. It's kind of like Concentrated compost is a bag. A few teaspoons in water brews up like a cup of two of EWC or Compost.

This stuff is not as good as your own Compost will be, but it works pretty well as an easy substitute. And it will last longer than the bagged EWC.

I've also been using Bio Ag TM-7 to get the humates and micronutrients that I'm missing out on without the compost.

Again, this stuff doesn't do as well as just mixing all the amendments into a compost pile for the worms to eat. But it's OK in a pinch.

Regarding a soil recipe, What have you got on hand from your Super Soil attempts? Neem, basalt and crabshell are awesome, but you could also use other combinations of stuff too.

When you built your compost pile did you use some Compost Starter? It's usually alfalfa and kelp innoculated with good bacteria and fungus. It helps jump start the process if you add it soon after your pile cools down after the initial heat-up.

I have leftover; rock phosphate, alfalfa meal, fishbone meal, regular bone meal, seabird guano, oyster shell flour, kelp meal, blood meal, powdered Humic acid and some scraps of myco. Also azomite (which I now know is glorified clay and won’t be using in the future.) Also are you using the microbe charge terp tea?

Yeah, sorry man, my reply was confusing.

I'm using the Terp Tea Microbe Charge now. Every 2 weeks or so to jump off the microbes. It's been easier to get and work with than the commerical EWC I had been using for top dresses or microbe teas and it works just as well. Maybe better? It's tough to say for sure.

For soil recipe maybe (per cubic foot)

1/4 - 1/2 cup of Alfalfa, fish bone meal, and kelp.
1 cup of oyster shell flower and 1 cup of azomite.

Keep it mild at first. If it's too weak you can top dress this round and add a little extra to your soil for next time.

Awesome info man thanks. I’ll have all the supplies ready for the new recipe soon, was just wondering if my leftovers would help me improve the compost and whatnot. I’m guessing my alfalfa meal and bone meal would be good additions to my new compost pile, so I’ll start looking into that. Back to the hunt for proper compost in my area.
