Hello Everyone! New grower here!

Hi everyone!

I have just started my grow journey, with the seeds on their way.

My setup is a 2x4 in a rather large walk in closet. I have setup the carbon air filter and my tent very much like the recommended setups with the inline fants etc.

I have been monitoring the closets temp and humidity daily for a few days without the tent and the installed lights..

I have a 2 different ~100w led grow lights for testing measures for later upgrades.

Once the lights were installed and on for about 12 hours i Have noticed a few degree rise in temp with the monitor around 24" below the light surface with just one of the going.

Reading have been between 40-50 percent humidity, and with out the grow lights around 70-73 degree F average, but with the lights on around 75-77 degrees F.

I have been running the inline fan to get air out but have not been running fans or anything inside the tent... no plants yet.

Wondering based on this basic information if these temp and humidity settings for this environment will be efficient without any AC, or humidity control. I assume the humidity may change with the plants in the small 4v2 tent?

Any information helps thanks!

You need to run every eletric item in tent for real temps imo. Lights, fans, humidifiers etc.
All make heat, the temps you listed are good but probably inaccurate

It sounds ok to me. The plants will increase the humidity, like you said.
@bam0813 made good points.

Personally I think 75-77 and 40-50% is too low for young plants. They probably won’t die, but I think you want the humidity higher early on. I would rather see 60% fwiw. It can drop later on.

Not a bad starting point but it would be good to get temps and rh up a bit, like others say. You can get a small humidifier to bring your rh up, at least for seedling and veg stage. If you're using an exhaust fan, a speed control may give you some temp and rh control. If you're in a cold climate, make sure you can keep temps up when the cold comes along. For quantum board or COB LED lighting, shoot for 30 watts per sq ft, 240 watts for a 4x2. You're close at 200w.

What are you planning on doing for fans inside once you have plants? It is a very important part of the grow and you won't want to be winging it. Poor air circulation leads to mold and fungus as well as weak plant stalks.

So I have several fans I plan to run along the bottom corners pushing air from bottom to top to be pushed out to keep the C02 levels relatively good.

I like this tip as well. Will be implementing the higher humidity around the first few weeks as I agree it should probably be higher at first

Hey everyone my seeds came in today...so tomorrow I should be good to drop them in my setup.

Before I do I would like to rundown my plan and see what anyone thinks.

Seeds are autoflower from ILGM

1. Store until tomorrow in my safe in the shipped packaging.

2. Tomorrow will place 3 seeds in a jar of water for 18 hours and check for loss of buoyancy.

3. Place in wet towel in dark area of about 72-75 degrees until 3/4 to 1in taps.

4. Plant directly into my 3 gallon soil and perlite mix at the already directed environment above with increased humidity around 60 percent...and temps around 75 degrees.

1 question I do have is light cycle at the beginning of plant stage if someone wants to run that by me would be awesome.

Will be including photos of the grow as I go!

Me I’d just dampen some paper towel and put the seeds between two layers of it on a saucer. Put that in a plastic
sandwich bag and leave the end mostly open unless it’s real humid where you are. Put that someplace dark and at least 20c, like maybe a safe. You afraid of thieves?
I run my lights 18/6 in veg but I do photoperiods.
Here’s a link to the best auto I’ve seen here.

First time and autos? I'd suggest a water germination. Avoid the root damage and issues with paper towels.

You’re using LED. You want the leaf temperatures at the top around 82F. With higher temperatures you want higher humidity. Have you provided for adequate air exhange because that’s critical? It’s not just moving air around but exchanging it so you have a steady supply of CO2.

Yes I have 2 ducts going. One input from another room and one output into my chimney.

Can u show me some detail on this method please

I threw the third one in without any idea if it will sprout but the other 2 looked healthy being dropped in.

U can see temp and humidity in the photo I hope. It's around 75 temp and 55-70 % humidity.

Any first thoughts? They been in the ground since around midnight last night.

Lights are currently around 24 inches from the top of the plant box and I plan to lower once I see sprouts to prevent stretching.
