Why do we feed, water, water with soil?

It seems to be generally accepted that plants being fed in soil should follow a schedule similar to this. Water with nutrients, then just water a couple times. We dont do this in coco or hydro, rather we give a steady consistent amount of nutrients that the plant is happy at. So why in soil? Would the plant not be just as happy or happier if given a steady feed every watering at lower amount? lets say normally you give 900ppm, then just straight water twice. Why not split it evenly into 300ppm every watering and be feeding them exactly the same amount? Those numbers are just an example, important part is just feeding at 1/3 strength every watering rather than feed, water, water. Is there an actual reason why they prefer a varying concentration? I dont see why hydro should be any different.
hi from my experience since i grow in soil outdoor, on the feed, water schedules, plus i check my ppm and ph, the reason for this schedule is when growing in soil, if you just feed nutrution every watering, than your soil will build up of salt and cause lockout, because remember your soil whole nutrution everytime you feed it, that mean your ppm going to be going up and might cause you to over feed your plant, that's when you growing in soil, so the reason for the feed, water schedule is to help you to avoid lockout or overfeeding your plant, yes you can try feeding every water at lower dosage, but you got to alway check your ppm to see if you are overfeed your plant, cause you problems, always remember your soil hold nutrution, now far as hydro thats probably different and soilless lol, i hope this help good luck :p :p:p

I like how you tried so hard to avoid the question about the lights those companies gave you for being such a good grower.

Water feed water.

I'll let you tell the story :blsmoke:

It's ok creepy guy, I am not avoiding the question, I am avoiding you. You know, like most do. I keep telling you that your strange obsession with me is not healthy. Now if you want to know do what you always do, stalk people. The threads are easily available. Doing something you want goes against common sense. Not my fault you are jealous and too lazy to go looking for the threads. You can watch for the new thread coming soon. Now take this and I am out nutkick.gif

The only things I remember on this was some organic growers, who would feed a little synthetics early on while the soil food web took off, or so their reasoning went, theirs a lot of conflicting info on the effects synthetics have on microbes. Some would also do it to remedy deficiencies, so only using nutes once every other or third feed was probably an effort to not over fertilise on account of other soil nutrients.

Basically, I think it started from organic growers who didn't know as much as they know now. It's not that it can't work, but theirs far easier ways to do it, as you pointed out.
