First time defoliating Autoflower (3rd grow) need advice pls

Hey guys im growing an Auto amnesia currently starting week 8 from tomorrow. I decided to scrog after LSTing initially. How am I doing? Im a bit worried that my plant is too bushy and that i might be risking PM or mould if i dont defoliate.

RH has been a steady ~50% give or take 10% up or down MAX. But just recently over the last 3 or 4 days ive noticed RH occasionally creeping above the 60% mark.

Should I defoliate? Ive ordered a tower fan for extra airflow which should be arriving this week and i already have a small clip on fan going inside of this little 2x2 tent.

Space is the issue man. the tower fan is already pushing it when it comes to space restrictions so I have no idea where to stick a dehumidifier in this tent. Do you think a small 250ml/day 35w dehumidifier would suit this 2x2 setup? there's one on amazon for ~50 bucks right now.

Not a true scrog … but here’s the thing , you actually made a better LST.….. Autos run a finite grow time , no way to elongate it for long veg and scrog weaving. That’s why an early topping and or LST / tie down usually is enough not to slow things unintentionally.

Net isnt much help and can be removed , tie down those branches to hold the shape then leave it alone.

Defoliating is good, but only on plants without any underlying issues. Yours does have some sort of issue, I'm not going to speculate on that but because of that obvious issue, you may as well forget about defoliating at this point. Is that a seedsman auto amnesia btw?

Thank you will do. Whatever yield I get out of this plant will be chucked up to learning mistakes and will focus on not making the same mistake on plant #2 buddha magnum.

No its from a seedbank called "DC collectibles" its their own amnesia auto (apparently from a Spanish breeder). DC is more or less just rebadging for the local market.

No worries …. Autos are pretty much plug and play . Once they pop the timer starts … most average around 90 days or so ( except certain XL or Super autos ) so feeding will be rather simple . Keep it happy for its short life , no stress , no heavy handed tricks , no multi bottles of excess nute crap. Anything you introduce to its life that may slow it , stunt it or stress it will impact it.

I always recommend a longer cycle ( 20/4 ) but standard 18/6 or long 24/0 is fine too. Reason I like the longer ON cycle is it will keep energizing INITIAL growth for getting it to grow as big as it can before it preflowers.

A dehumidifier will raise the temperature of a large space a few degrees, but it will raise the temperature of a small space too much, and if you increase the exhaust to take the excess heat away, you'll just suck in more wet air, thus defeating the purpose. That's what I discovered when I tried to put a small 10L dehumidifier in and closed the door to my walk in wardrobe grow.

Totally agree with Budz. Plant the fuckers and leave them alone. No stress and keep it happy. The ones I'm running this go around I didn't even start LST until they were showing sex like week 3. I did a little experiment before and found you can actually stress an auto into early flower.

Im a bit disappointed tbh because I did everything correctly right up till the plant entered its stretch phase. Previously I had issues with the veg phase but I feel as if ive grown my skill level to a point where I can comfortably get an Auto through week 5 no problem. Now what I need to improve upon is how I handle that turn over phase where the plant suddenly pumps hormones and changes its requirements. Any advice for future grows are welcome :)

Would leaving the dehumidifier outside right next to its air intake make a difference?

It's just not how dehumidifiers work, believe me I've been there because of my grow space in a walk in wardrobe with no vents other than a door. It's also very temperature sensitive, if the weather's cool then they freeze up. In the wet season I just put up with it for a few months, if it's wet and rainy but not too hot then I use a larger dehumidifier in the room outside the grow wardrobe, and take the water out of both rooms which I also do when drying. I did consider getting a 6kw Air Con that vents to the outside, but more for the larger space that would bleed off into the grow room. In the end it's only a few weeks a year, so I just battle through it was too much expense and too much electricity for little actual gain.

Then I will leave it inside and deal with the added heat. Its not too warm these days where I live so as long as it gets me through these two harvests ill be happy for the time being.
