Weed in Canada has ZERO value

My location isn't necessary or relevant.
Your claim that outdoor is trash is absurd.
Take two clones, grow one outdoors and one inside. Unless you totally screw it up the outdoor will be better.

You must be on the run or something....lol
Well I was trying to figure out if your in the kind of climate where outdoor cannabis grows well. Like the southern states or Mexico. If I lived in those spots I might use outdoor weed too. Except for the bugs...mold....seeds....bird shit....dust....and whatever else sticks to it.
You know dust sticks to it nicely right.......mmmmm tasty

Come and smoke some Canadian outdoor. Or some really nice indoor hand grown fire. If you can't see the difference you must be using on your wrong parts.

Buy yourself a little greenhouse and propane heater... No one would know the difference.
On a small scale...possibly. On the scale they do it at....it's a joke. Pesticides and Mold. No climate control gets you that.
I know resellers who won't touch the stuff cuz they get stuck with it.
This is a fact!
I know a few resellers in Toronto. If it isn't top shelf it's basically a "no sale" Mids are $500 a pound and lower at best and at shady deals.

The big greenhouse I pass by is mostly dark now. When it first started up 5 years ago it was lit up light a XMAS tree. Now......sound effects time ( make the sound of wind blowing) it's mostly dark.
Failure time.

Two stores finally opened up in the small town nearest to me and I doubt there's enough business to support even one. One is run by local people that have another store in the city an hour away and seem like really nice people so I wish them well . The other is a bigger outfit with quite a few stores around Alberta and I got a real corporate vibe off them. The dude came out of the back and looks like a real German Euro-trash type that reminded me of the big square headed RCMP dude that busted me for impaired driving back in '93. Couldn't wait to get out of there. They're right on main street 2 doors down from the convenience store loaded with munchies so you'd think that would be the better location but these people here are really judgmental so the other store just off main street may get more business being a bit more discreet.

I did buy a pipe from the 1st store for $6 but won't be buying pot.

:peace:
Maybe he's Ex Gestapo. Now one of Trudys goons saving the children from the dreaded weed.
I wonder if the stores can sneak in outside bud for sale. Who watching these places?
Under counter or backroom bag filling could be very lucrative.

No reg's in Canada on the presence of pesticides or mold? Even here where it not legal federally, the presence of either disqualifies it for sale at a dispensary. Black market though are probably loaded with pesticides, mold, growth hormones, and whatever else they find to increase profit

Very good question and I meant to mention it.
ALL legal weed sold here has been nuked (irradiated) at the factory...lol...TRUTH.
Not much incentive to grow mold free when in the end you just nuke it clean.
Mold is rampant in LP's.
The local floor sweeping LP in Kitchener had a huge case of PM mold. Ah..who cares...nuke away.

They have a list of approved pesticides...so ya take yer chances essentially. It's a big list.

Let's recap then, looking at the Canadian market.

Black market exports to the US do not exist at the moment, due to COVID. What is grown would have to be sold domestically.
Apparently there is way too much flower in Canada for the domestic market alone, which is why only high-end product even sells for profit at the moment.

Now I do not see why this would teach me any lessons, other than what I've already said and which is quite obvious: Cannabis has not much intrinsic value, it is very easy to grow more than enough of it to satisfy any given market.

If the Canadian situation tells us anything, then it's that; and it's not surprising.

I do not understand why I would be in the Canadian weed business in order to contribute to this discussion anyway. Most of it is common sense.

Was quoted at 100 ca a pound, looked like the columbian from the 90s but would be ok for making concentrates. Anything over 400ca a lb is high priced in Southern Ontario. I know a guy whos liscenced for 400 plants and doesnt even smoke it. Seems like you have to pay to play up here. Seems that quantity rules over quality now. I feel like the little guys growing the dank suffer the most by underpriced crap grown by newbs that have no idea how to properly care for the plants, and have no interest in growing quality herb. But thats a bitch session for some other time. I grow for personal and have no interest in selling anything l grow. Couldnt afford to grow it for price they pay now.

Thank you so much....now please tell our Euro friend here. He hasn't a clue about the actual situation.
Your right on about the newb stuff. It fucks the real sales up for sure. But they soon realize I'd rather have steak than hoof meat.
I've notice that at my local grow store the crowd has lightened considerably. Those rushes of newbies are over for sure.
Some folks here in this forum think it's easy to gro. How hard can it be? After all it only a plant. These are folks who you just know never tried. Just grow it like carrot or corn or beans.
Ask anyone who's dialed a room and procedure how hard it is. Maybe not hard so to speak...but skilled...you fucking bet.

The actual situation is being discussed for 15 pages now. All of which I have read. Thank you very much.

It is possible and allowed to make an contribution to a discussion without first-hand experience. Several people have clearly described the Canadian situation. I have not disagreed with any of them; why would you or anybody else lie about the factual situation?

What I have said is that your market shows the actual value of the product, which apparently is not very high. Or else you would not have trouble selling 500 g of flower for 500 Canadian dollars. Now prove me otherwise. Maybe we don't even disagree. I don't really follow anymore, to be honest...

Some folks here in this forum think it's easy to gro. How hard can it be? After all it only a plant. These are folks who you just know never tried. Just grow it like carrot or corn or beans.
It is easy. I have tried.

Is it easy to grow fire weed, like the 1% best you could make? Hell no, the "best" is always difficult to achieve, by definition; otherwise it would be "average", and not "the best".

On the other hand, have YOU tried to grow "carrots", "corn" or "beans"? Probably not, but you cite it as a reference to make your point. Hypocrisy works both ways I guess.

How is it any different? Basic needs being the same.. From seed to flower, flower to seed.

There is zero need to speculate or theory-craft about a big ag approach to cannabis. It's all right there in black and white for everybody to look at.

You can simply look at all the publicly available quarterly financial reports of these billion dollar companies losing billions of dollars every single year while their shitty mass-produced flower rots away and retailers can't keep the shelves stocked long enough with premium craft offerings at a much higher price point because it sells so fast.

People don't want cheap mass produced flower, period. Whether its greenhouse/outdoor or even indoor in a massive warehouse. Cannabis -does not scale-. It's just too labor intensive to harvest when you have to hand trim each individual bud, etc..
