Day 38/23:
More bad news than good...

I do not know whats up. Do I just have the slowest strain ever or something?? (Daddy may not be AK.. not for sure) Like somebody (Mared Juwan?) said... they look okay, not growing at normal speed... I slowly get new sets of leaves, and although i'm getting roots out of the pots, they are taking they're sweet time.. not even sure if they are in the water yet... ugh...

Oh. I think lil Franky's dead.

I guess I'll have at least one spot for a rooted clone... (when time comes)

Fox does now have 11 roots out of the pots. But like I said before, going at a SLOWWWW rate. Jane only has one or two... but that one is HUGH, lots of little hairs off of it, but again, not long.

Next grow... new/different seeds.

Ok so I haven't been following this grow. The setup doesn't look to bad.

Looks like a small aero CFL grow yeah? You need TONS more light. Unless you moved the CFL's for picture purposes. You can never have enough light. Get as many CFL's that will fit without touching each other. They don't put off much heat so you can basically have them ALMOST touching your plants. About a half-inch away. After 2 inches CFL's are pretty much useless though so the closer the better mate.

EDIT: Ok so I was wondering if you could post a full update over the last 38 days. I wanna try and help as much as I can and I see your having PH issues etc etc. So if you could kind of some up all your problems in one big post then I will come back and help you sort out all youre issues.

I guess... even though your being lazy by not reading all my goodness (KIDDING)... but FYI, it is not just a CFL grow, I have a 150HPS as well... but here's a recap:

This was the initial set up (knowing I would add to) four rockwool cubes in a pot, under 4 42-watt CFLs... though I thought the were 'daylight' they were 'soft white'

I know at first, I really overwatered, I admit. I kept that RW wet Also wasnt testing pH (i know I know) and it was around 6.5.. eek... I started using pH down and now keep it around 5.8-6.0

Removed the metal pot (too much heat??) and placed in a shallow dish. Also had a little bit of nute burn with 1/4 nutes... Flora Micro/Gro/Bloom

On day 14 or 15 I got my 150HPS in the mail, which I rigged up. I though I had all my problems solved, so I tried to sprout 4 more of the same seeds.

Overwatering led to some type of rockwool rot, I sacrificed Lara to see how bad it was inside the cube, turns out... not too bad at all inside.

Added a humi-dome...

...and a DIY reflector

Moved the three main seedlings and the one best of the 4 new seedlings into my 12 gallon DWC... 60 gallon pump and 2 5" airstones

Initially had some wilting after the DWC transfer...

Realized that I never had daylight CFLs, and found one around the house and plugged her in... to help ad blue to the light.

...then i got some more (temporary CFL set up)

12 days later, Fox has the most roots out of the water (11 at last count).. though not long... may raise water level a bit.

Here are some stats too:
150watt HPS
3 26 watt 65k CFLs
Flora nutes (at 1/4 strength)
Water level in DWC about 1" under pots
pH try to keep around 5.8-6.0... though it creeps up every couples days to 6.2-6.4
7" fan for air flow
Keep the door open most of the day...
Temp stays in the 78˚-82˚ range (during light hours)

Hope that helps!

Leggo had a slow start because of excess heat. It's not a ph problem. He's on track now and the plants are growing faster than ever. I don't see any other issues he needs to fix and I've been following since the beginning. All it takes now is a little time.

Leggo, it is normal for your ph to rise a little like that. Ph is the concentration of H+ ions in a liquid. An acidic liquid will be "supersaturated" with H+ ions and they will escape the surface of the liquid one by one and be lost to the air. Therefore, your ph will slowly rise and equalize to 7.0 unless you keep adjusting it. It's physics - FUN!!!!

Hi Leggo,

Started watching your grow around 10/28... which is when I first germinated my own seeds for my first grow. Thanks for continuing to post pics and commenting on the issues you've had. I, too, have experienced some stunted slower growth (due to high ph & low temps) and it makes me feel better to see how yours are recovering... geez, recovery is painfully slow... I can definitely relate and feel just as impatient!:cuss:

I'm also interested in learning more about hydroponics... so I've pulled up a permanent seat and look forward to reading more.

Good luck!:weed:

Quick Update:
Day 39/24:
Finally got the chance to change nutrient solution. Stayed with 1/4 for now... if they shoot off, then may up it to 1/2... Also, before the water was a lil over 1" below the pots, this time it is right under (if not touching) the bottoms... I wanted the little roots that are there to drink up, grow, then I'll lower the level a tad.

Fox has her 12th root! They keep coming, now if they can only get down deep into that nice rich water :) Fox and Jane both are looking GOOD, and sway is too, for the little runt.

Franky is still there, she looks DEAD though... but her tiniest set of new leaves look okay, worth trying to redeem right now while I have the spot in the DWC

Leggo Dude those roots are looking really healthy.... Looks like ur plants are busy building good structure.... Bro do u have indirect air flowing on um?
that may help fatten them up......

As far as cloning....... If u keep a female just for this purpose u can just keep vegging and chopping bro at any size u really wanted to....... I was saying for u instead of throwing those tops in the trash can to clone them...... Ive taken cuttings as small as one node it doesnt make a difference..... with ur node spacing it looks like if u veg till a foot on all 4 plants and cut and clone ur tops then u will prolly end up with a 4-5 inch cutting to clone with 3-5 nodes ...see what im saying? Then keep vegging till it re grows new stems and they reach a foot in hieght....

Any how bro looking good get some wind on those maybe a lil more than they are getting. Im predicting major fattening now that u r feeding in the next couple days.

Hey bro remember the clones i showed u about a week and a half ago......heres a pic of them in the tub flowering ( third pic on the right is today bro)

Im going to put a step by step on cloning for ya dude, mine will prolly be ready b4 urs.

Day 41:
Notice no more 'Day 26' as well... because Franky is gone :-/ Just down to the three originals... hopefully when I top my plants, I can clone at leaste one to fill Franky's spot in the DWC...

I can't bare to let her go though, maybe with some miracle, she will come back from the dead.

As for the others, getting a really good root structure, although not very long roots... Fox has now about 18 roots out of the water. And Sway and Jane both have around 5-6 or so... but each have one HUGE root with tons of huge hair/roots off of them...

Noticing about a 1" growth in height every 2 days or so from Fox, sure the others are getting taller also...

Pics tomorrow.

holla.

i know very little about hydro but by pulling them out to check the roots every day, arent you exposing the roots to lots of light, and disturbing the root mass.

l say leave em alone man, let em grow.
