Hi lads, I have a question for you . Has anyone used the Rhino EC Silent Fan ? I am building a set up and have my exhaust and intake fans in my loft. The fans are isomax 10imch and 8 . I am kind of worried about the sound and my neighbour hearing it. The fans are in the loft maybe 4 meters away from his roof wall.
Anyway...I went today to the growshop and ordered some rhinos...what do you think are they silent enough ?
I am thinking about silencers as well. What are your thoughts.
Sorry for the long post. I'm just freaking out about the noise. Maybe a bit paranoid as well. Thanks :fire:

Make sure you can access to clean once a year. The blades will make more noise as the start to load up with dirt. If you can get some unfaced insulation and fashion a duct over the output that will act as a muffler without affecting the fan performance.

My grow tent is in a closet and with door shut I don’t hear my exhaust or intake and the oscillating fans. I couldn’t imagine hearing it if they were in the attic or my neighbors hearing them

Depends on how noisy it is. You are the one to determine that. You can always add it later. But pay attention to the mounting so it does not transmit any vibration.

On my small tent with a 4" exhaust I use a padded knee brace over the outlet as a muffler....

A bigger fan than you need slowed down with a EC controller or a variac, plenty air movement no whoosh.

A fan running constant slowly on a controller is so much more efficient than thermostatic control and it gives you a more stable environment with no peaks or dips in temperature and humidity.

I have to 2 10 inch exhaust fans and 2 8 inch intake fans...exhaust fans are rhino with rhino filter and the intake ones are Isomax.
I have 2 rooms that I've setup. 5 dimlux 1000w in one and 5 in another one.
The fans are quite big and obviously they make noise that's why I changed to rhino ec silent fan hoping it would make a difference. Just got them didnt mount them today to check.
I'm thinking applying some acoustic panels like those in music studios on the other side of the loft. Or maybe buy silencers ?

I use two 6” vortex w speed controls and silencers.
Silencers helped w silencing moving air, “wooshing” and air movement sounds, good for stealth outside where your venting.
But it won’t quiet the fan motor noise as much so inside you can stil hear the fans going.

honestly my silencers are now in the “to sell” pile.

Noise is a problem for me, between hanging with elastic (essential imo) acoustic ducting and a speed controller I've no concerns about noise, my dehumidifier or oscillating fans both make more noise than my exhaust fan + variac.

I'm not sure of latest fans etc but rhino make decent fans it sounds like you have more than enough to cover 1000w

If the above suggestion don't work you could try a silencer, I wouldn't bother with panels for a studio they're about breaking up sound waves for reflection damping/clarity of sound.
