Does anybody know how trichomes are formed?

How do they form such perfect mushroom shapes? Is this due to the plant using pressure to push out a sticky glass stalk?

It almost seems like they have a hard outside and a more liquid inside, that pushes out and causes the trichome head to swell during maturation.

Has science come far enough where we understand the anatomy of a trichome?

Since trichomes are on a ton of different plant species I would assume so. I don’t know any more than that though. My air plants from Florida are full of them.

Its the plants hormonal response it produces the sticky viscous resin to make optimal use of surface area to catch pollen I think I read somewhere that each trichome is comprised of 4or 5 cells that's as much as I can tell you

There are several different types of trichomes each with their own purpose and secondary metabolites afaik. Frenchy cannoli gave a lot of good information about their structure and growth specifically for hashmaking but it's very enlightening, he has a very thick accent and can be hard to understand, but he traveled the world making traditional hash in many countries and was very open with the information he learned. He likened them to fruit because of how the stems actually undergo abscission like a apple or orange would when they are ripe for making hash.

I would encourage you to definitely look into it if you're interested.
