Weird puff of smoke when I crack open a bud

I'm no expert but isn't the puff of smoke from inside the bud making it botrytis? Isn't pm a white dusty like substance on your leaves?
idk the whole thing with this thread is that the bud looks normal? if it was bud rot u would see it or definitely feel it when u break it up. unless it wasnt visible to the eye. jorge cervantes even washes his bud after harvesting with h202 to remove powdery mildew after harvest see this.
i might just do that and then break it up again n see if it gives off anymore pm spores

Actually, you can get bud rot inside totally normal looking buds, you can't see it until you break the colas into smaller buds. A LOT of people don't notice this mold because if you don't have a bad case of it, you can't see it unless you look under a scope or a magnifying glass. I check inside every large cola I grow, just look for anything with very fine hairs or fuzz, and shine a light on it while you examine them.

I also open my big buds to check or I wouldn't even know I had it as the buds all look and smell normal. Sometimes I open big ones up near the end of flower to check. Sometimes it starts out as little orange dots inside the bud or Sometimes it starts as web looking substance. But they both end up giving off the puff of smoke when bud is broken

I’ve had this happen, even recently…. And it’s mold spores

Now every bud I smoke I crack open under a good light and look for a poof. Sometimes a large bud will only have a small spot with a poof but regardless throw it away. Maybe not all the buds. But inspect as you smoke…

Messing with your buds late in flower, removing leaves or pulling them apart even will allow juices to leak into the bud and even more quickly cause mold.

best solution I have is get another fan on your canopy blasting pretty good. Mold doesn’t like direct air flow.

Weird the ones I open and don't see the spores don't get spores. But I just open it up little to see inside the bud, I don't tear anything as to let out any liquid.
Ya I am going to have to try and get more air flow.
I got 4 fans total in the tent but I guess I need more.

Spores are….. microscopic.

Don’t open any buds at all. Don’t fuck with them after like two or three weeks max in flower……

You must have quite high humidity. Crank your outtake fan up or get a larger one….

So how exactly is someone supposed to know if a bud has bud rot? You can literally see the bud rot starting no microscope needed, but I have pretty good eye sight. Not sure why you are saying not to look, especiallyif your not breakingthe bud at all. If I didn't look the buds would have way more bud rot if left to just grow, geez not sure how leaving them and not knowing is a good idea but hey to each there own.
I got 4 fans and my out take sucks all my walls in so I think it's good. My humidity this round got up to 70 in the first 3 weeks but then I got my pulse monitor and was able to keep it below 60 after about 3 weeks of flower. But still ended up getting some bud rot this round, just little spots in some of the bigger buds. Think it might also be because I had so many plants packed in my tent and I guess not enough air flow

I personally at first, thought it was dust. Then I was like….. there’s no way there’s exploding dust clouds INSIDE the nugs. Outside maybe. Deep in the bud? It’s mold.

get more airflow, lower your humidity best you can. Open those bottom vents. Hella exhaust fan in roof of tent sucking that humid air out and gone. Don’t pick at your leaves or nugs few weeks into flower. Fuck defoliate during the ten day veg to flower transition time and leave them alone. Some LST or maybe even supercropping will be ok but once the flowers are forming…. I strongly recommend leaving them be.
yeah haha i thought it was dust too, i didnt even know what to search for it at first lol but then i found this thread n the one video was exactly what it looks like.

but thank u for all those tips! i really appreciate them all:eyesmoke: i gotta remember to be extra careful and sterile with everything involving these plants. definitely sounds like the way to go is get them shaped the way u want them then when u switch to flower just leave them be and add more airflow too to keep humidity low because i notice when the lights go off the humidity climbs

2 litres each every 2 days? What size pots were they in? I was running a sort of closed system in my 4x4, rh was around 80 temps in low 90s. No pm no mold. Ate heavily and grew huge. Supplimented co2 and I vented tent until dry, a few hours at lights off. Live in very high rh area.
10 litre plant pots

Well that's a good point to be fair, I heard that anything over 90F kills powdery mildew so I guess the flame on my lighter will do the trick! :bigjoint:
Fire won't help much. Some molds can survive high amounts of heat. But even if you killed the mold, you won't reduce the toxins they release.
Google 'Aflatoxin' and 'Mycotoxin'

If you smoke from a joint/blunt/bong/pipe etc. only the tip is burning. Everything else behind or under the tip is getting inhaled without burning. So again, fire won't help.
