The last dozen or so of your replies to any of of my statements have been nothing but mocking the death of children. Not only are you too stupid to hold your own in this or any other debate, you are a low, foul, piece of shit. You are unworthy of civilized discourse. You are a shit stain on the emerald isle of Ireland

Hmmm. Must be someone I put on my ignore list.

The 'fail' class. That's an overgeneralization if ever there was one. Talk about lumping together a big and diverse group and then dismissing them!

Just because lots of people complain about how fucked up the system is doesn't mean they're wrong. Of course they're right. The occasional exception proves the rule, but the level of opportunity and thus social mobility in this country is lagging behind the rest of the industrialised world.

It's unsustainable and it will render us an also ran country very quickly if it's allowed to continue. This will hurt everyone, possibly the rich worst of all. This might be the justification needed for the rich to go along with a new plan.

Back to Ukraine, the original topic. I just had the rare opportunity to speak with someone with decades of experience at the very top levels of government in exactly that part of the world.

He said that a situation where Russian tanks occupy the eastern part of the country as a buffer zone against western aggression and to 'protect' the local ethnic Russian population will be seen by all sides as an acceptable outcome and a chance to save face.

Western Ukraine can continue tilting towards the West, and eastern Ukraine can stay firmly within the Russian orbit.

Any chance of digging Putin's tanks out and throwing back the invasion has passed.

Putin is emboldened by each success of his bullying, goaded on by a population that thinks his antics have their best interests at heart.

KYIV, Ukraine — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday that a group of Russian and Ukrainians is planning to stage a coup d’etat in Ukraine next month and that the plotters are trying to enlist the help of the country’s richest man, Rinat Akhmetov.

Zelensky, speaking at a “press marathon” for local and international media, said that audio recordings, obtained by Ukraine’s security services, caught plotters discussing their plans and mentioning Akhmetov’s name. Akhmetov was not involved in the actual coup plot, however, Zelensky said.

“I believe [Akhmetov] is being dragged into the war against Ukraine,” Zelensky said. “This will be a big mistake, because it is impossible to fight against the people, against the president elected by the people of Ukraine.”

Zelensky said the alleged coup was being planned for Dec. 1 or 2. He did not provide further details, however.

Putin is testing U.S., NATO with buildup along Russia-Ukraine border, defense minister says

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied any Russian role in the alleged plot.

“Russia never engages in such things. There have never been such plans,” he said.

Ukrainian media in recent weeks have commented on the growing tensions between Zelensky and Akhmetov. Zelensky has launched a “de-oligarchization”campaign to reduce the political influence of Ukraine’s richest people, who control key sections of the economy.

Akhmetov, a mining and steel tycoon, also owns media holdings, which in recent weeks have increased their criticism of Zelensky and his administration.

Zelensky’s comments also come against a backdrop of rising tensions between Kyiv and Moscow.

Western and Ukrainian officials say that they have observed a buildup of Russian forces on the country’s border with Ukraine.

The reasons for the buildup are unclear, but officials say that it could be in preparation for an invasion or an escalation in the seven-year-old conflict in eastern Ukraine with anti-Kyiv insurgents, backed by Moscow, according to Western officials and independent researchers.

The Ukrainian president said that his country was prepared for any scenario.

“We are in full control of our borders and ready if there will be an escalation,” Zelensky said.

That 4 year Head start that Trump gave them might be too much to pass up for the dictators of the planet.

Germany with a new leader, and France flirting with electing a far right nut job in a few months, and half of the American congress pushing the Russian propaganda like it's their own so that they can set up their own dictator here.

Russia started this war in 2014.

Im just happy that Biden and the Democrats were elected so that we have as level of a head as possible in office to deal with this mess.

Holy fuck, I started this thread 7 years ago and it is up again/relevant?
Sad isn't it?
Fucking Putin/Russia amassing troops along the border of Ukraine & Nato/USA say/do nothing?
Russia-Ukraine border: Putin's military buildup intended to test U.S., NATO, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov says - The Washington Post
This reminds me of Chamberlain & Hitler in 1938
Hitler was lying through his teeth then, just as Putin is lying now about the troop buildup on the border of Ukraine.
What, is it just war games?
I thought war games involved moving, not sitting stagnant along a disputed border.
And just like Europe & the US did in 1938, which was nothing/pure stupidity, NATO and the USA now sit back, again, scratching their balls, and also do fucking nothing at all really concerning the invasion/annexation of the Crimea, or the seemingly immanent invasion of Ukraine.
Fucking pussies

Putin doesn't give a fuck about economic sanctions, he knows that all the average Russkie want's is a fucking potato & a bottle of vodka.
Putin on the otherhand craves power/glory/dominance.
Historically he reminds me of Napoleon, slightly mad enough to do insane things but smart enough to see weakness & that's what he sees now.
He'll invade.
Bet on it

Ukraine: an exciting new crisis
Just in time for winter, an invigorating new crisis pops its head up. It was first discovered by the American intelligence services, which started warning that Russian tanks were moving west several weeks ago. Ukraine played down the reports at first, but now it’s begging for new weapons to resist the allegedly impending attack.

Here we go again. All the players know the steps of the dance, and some of them even enjoy it. The purpose, however, is obscure.

First, let’s consider the Russian tanks "moving west" and threatening the borders of Ukraine. One significant Russian military force did move west last month: the 41st Combined Arms Army, which was transferred from Novosibirsk in western Siberia to Yelnya southwest of Moscow.

That puts it 280 kilometres from the Ukrainian frontier, which is not exactly breathing down the necks of the Ukrainians. The Russian troops that really are near Ukraine’s borders in the east and in the Crimean peninsula are exactly where they were before this "crisis."

So why did the 41st Combined Arms Army (around 30,000 soldiers) move almost 4,000 kilometres west last month? Here’s a clue: It’s now 280 kilometres north of the Ukrainian border, but it’s less than 100 kilometres from the border of Belarus.

It’s not there to invade Belarus right now, of course. "President" Alexander Lukashenko, still clinging to power there after rigging an election last year and crushing the massive protest movement that ensued, is a long-standing Russian ally. The 41st Army’s job is to keep Lukashenko in power if it can, and to ensure that his successor is friendly to Moscow if he falls.

That didn’t work for Russian President Vladimir Putin in the case of Ukraine, where not one but two different pro-Moscow leaders have been overthrown by popular revolutions and the current leadership wants to join NATO (which is essentially an anti-Russian alliance). It may not work in the Belarusian case, either – but that’s why the 41st Army is on the Belarusian border.

With Putin in control of Europes natural gas, will Europe do anything if Putin invades?
If the Ukraine is divisible, so too is Russia, they got several time zones of virgin Siberian land China would like to have and it's just across the border. Russia has an economy the size of Italy's and NATO has how many countries with larger ones, not including the USA? Vlad along with his buddy's has a lot of investments in the west, money that can be found and confiscated.

Kremlin claims Ukraine may try to win back rebel-controlled regions by force
Russia suggested that its conflict with Ukraine could soon escalate just a day after the U.S. promised it would react “resolutely” should Moscow attack its neighbor.

On Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said “the probability of hostilities in Ukraine still remains high,” according to The Associated Press.

He also said that "the Ukrainian authorities’ aggressive and increasingly intensive provocative action on the line of contact” was contributing to fears about hostilities increasing. He added that it seemed like “the Ukrainian leadership doesn’t exclude a forceful scenario,” citing comments made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian officials, the AP reported.

Ukrainian officials, however, have denied any plans to reclaim rebel-ruled regions forcefully, according to the wire service.

Meanwhile, after a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said “we are closely working together on developing a comprehensive deterrence package, including severe economic sanctions, to demotivate Russia from further aggressive moves.”

On Wednesday, Blinken warned that Russia has “stepped up planning for potential military action in Ukraine, including positioning tens of thousands of additional combat forces near the Ukrainian border.”

He promised that the U.S. would respond “resolutely” should Russia conduct an attack, “including with a range of high-impact economic measures that we have refrained from using in the past.”

That same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he is seeking “reliable and long-term security guarantees” that NATO would not expand near Russia’s border amid ongoing concerns about Moscow’s potential invasion of Ukraine.
