To top or not to top. That’s the dam question?

Do you manipulate your plants or let them do their thing?

I’m contemplating not topping these ones.
What do you think.

I can’t honestly remember the last time a grew a plant that I didn’t manipulate in one way or another. I’m always messing around with them.

Bend them over, tie them up or cutting heads off. It’s all fun to play with. Lol.

So who plays with their plants and who leaves them alone?

these will end up in 3gal fabric pots in 2 weeks and then flower a week later.
I can grow to about 50-55” max before I’m tapped for height.
guess I could always supper crop later if i had too.

All about strain and phenotype.
Some require it. Some don’t. My most recent varieties stretch 5x vertically and horizontally so I stopped topping snd starting netting snd lst instead

Plant health is usually good. But the strains. I don’t know. Never run these ones before.

Sour diesel
Atomic sherbet.

at the moment the OG is the tallest and the sour diesel is the shortest. Kinda the opposite I would expect. But it’s still early

I mean if you don't know the strains how do you know you're vegging them for 5 weeks?

I dont top seed runs. Seeing the natural structure of the plant is important as some dont respond well to topping or LST
my problem is a don’t run the same thing’s very often. I’d say 90%+ of my plants have turned out great with some manipulation. A few appeared to not like it. But without doing a side by side it’s a assumption

oh yeah. If I run 1 or two plants I veg longer/ bigger.

4 plants in a 3x3 it’s usually packed full with 4week veg.

Looking at the calendar it’s actually going to be 42 days veg. 6 weeks. I want to flip on New Years. Hoping to have the tent clear by mid March so I can get my outdoor plants to 4 ft or so before then go in the greenhouse. My veg tent is too small.

My goal is to shape all my plants like "this" before flower. This is best achieved with one early topping, and consistent LST.
Nice spacing. What do you do with strains that grow a few nodes taller before really growing side-branches (the nodes/growth sites are present, they just take a while to grow out) -- do you still top with ~4 primary branches, or do you adjust and top higher (maybe 8-10 primary branches, pruning lowers to get back to 4 (idk, timing))?

Random, but I recall a Pete Rose segment on ESPN where he said that when he was having trouble hitting, he wouldn't change his swing; he'd just move up or down, in or out in the batters box (if that makes sense). Not trying to do too many variations for different strains (to keep it simple for me), but I'm always interested in hearing about someone's practical "adjustments" or "avoidance of adjustments."

I force them to comply, lol!!! This one has super tight node spacing compared to her "sister";

The above plant is the short one here. The other pic i posted, is this tall one. Same strain, same age, same seed pack, different phenos.
